Winnipeg 5, St. Paul 3 — Box Score
3B Wes Darvill blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Winnipeg Goldeyes a 5-3 walk-off win against the St. Paul Saints.
The Goldeyes entered the bottom of the ninth inning trailing 3-1 but 1B Shawn Pleffner singled home LF Josh Romanski to cut into that deficit. After DH David Bergin struck out, Darvill belted out his third roundtripper of the season to end the game in dramatic fashion. CF Reggie Abercrombie was the only Goldeye to have more than one hit as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
For the Saints, LF Anthony Gallas went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. He scored twice in the game and 2B Tony Thomas, who was 1-for-4, scored the Saints’ other run.
Gary SouthShore 5, Cleburne 4 – Final/11 Innings — Box Score
RF Colin Willis gave the Gary SouthShore RailCats new life with a game-tying three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth and then he gave his team a 5-4 walk-off win in the 11th with an RBI double.
Willis finished the game with a team-high three hits for the RailCats and was one of three batters to have a multi-hit game. Gary SouthShore trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning but 2B Cole Fabio singled in the lead-off spot and LF Reggie Wilson, who scored three times on the day, drew a walk and they both scored when Willis hit his seventh home run of the year. In the 11th, Wilson drew another walk and Willis doubled to center to end the game.
For Cleburne, SS Maikol Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and 1B Geraldo Valentin went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Texas 5, Wichita 4 — Box Score
The Texas AirHogs held off the Wichita Wingnuts to claim a 5-4 on Tuesday night in the series opener.
Texas went into the eighth inning with a 4-2 lead but the Wingnuts quickly tied up the score. In the top of the eighth, 3B Martin Medina doubled home both DH Brent Clevlen and RF T.J. Mittelstaedt with one out to level the score at 4-4. In the bottom of the inning, DH Brian Ragira hit his second home run of the year to edge the AirHogs back in front. In the ninth, Reliever Luis De La Cruz sat the Wingnuts down in order to earn the save.
For the game, Mittelstaedt was the only batter with more than one hit as he went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a pair of walks. For the AirHogs, five different batters each had one hit.
Lincoln 6, Kansas City 5 — Box Score
The Lincoln Saltdogs put up four runs in the top of the first inning and despite a rally from the Kansas City T-Bones, never trailed on the way to a 6-5 win.
2B Cesar Valera, who went 3-for-4, opened the scoring with a three-run shot in the top of the first and 1B Nathaniel Maggio added to that with an RBI double later in the frame. In the fifth, Valera added another RBI to his total with a double that scored CF Matty Johnson and then later scored when LF Brandon Jacobs singled. The T-Bones cut the deficit to just one run in the bottom of the ninth when 1B Kevin Keyes lifted a sac fly but DH Tyler Horan struck out in the next at-bat to end the game.
For the T-Bones, RF Chantz Mack and 3B Jordan Edgerton each had two hits and Mack had two RBI.
Salina 4, Sioux City 3 — Box Score
The Salina Stockade turned 11 hits into four runs as they took care of the Sioux City Explorers 4-3.
Four different Stockade batters had two hits in the game led by LF Roche Woodard who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. CF Jonathan Moroney, RF Jimmy Heck and SS Logan Trowbridge each also added a pair of hits in the game. Both Woodard and C Cody Coffman left the yard for the Stockade on the night.
For the Explorers, seven different batters each had one hit including DH Tyler Ogle who had a pair of RBI.
Fargo-Moorhead 7, Sioux Falls 4 — Box Score
1B Trever Adams’ three-run home run in the top of an eventful seventh inning made the difference as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks beat the Sioux Falls Canaries 7-4.
The RedHawks were leading 4-1 going into the seventh before Adams’ blast gave his team a 7-1 lead. In the bottom of the frame, RF Jabari Henry hit a three-run home run of his own to bring the Canaries to within three runs but that was as close as the score would get. Adams finished the day 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored and LF Keury De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
For the Canaries, Henry as well as LF Ty Morrison and 1B Chris Jacobs each had two-hit games.
