Sioux Falls 4, Lincoln 2
The Sioux Falls Canaries slid past the Lincoln Saltdogs behind a two-RBI effort from 1B Marcos Rodriguez. Rodriguez pushed the first run of the game across in the top of the third inning when he bounced out to the second baseman. 3B Jared Clark doubled in a run in the next at bat to give the Canaries a 2-0 lead. Rodriguez hit a solo homerun in the fifth inning to extend the lead.
The Saltdogs scored both of their runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on back-to-back RBI hits from 2B David Espinosa and 3B Curt Smith but that was all the offense the Saltdogs would mount.
Sioux Falls Starter Adam Champion had a strong game on the mound as he went eight innings and allowed just the two runs on four hits in the winning effort. Reliever Alan DeRatt came in for the ninth inning and sat the Saltdogs down in order to earn the save.
Grand Prairie 7, Wichita 3
After blowing the early lead, the Grand Prairie AirHogs came back to beat the Wichita Wingnuts 7-3. The AirHogs took the lead in the second inning by scoring the first two runs of the game but Wichita snatched control of the game with three runs in the next two innings. It was a three-run homerun by 1B Andres Rodriguez in the fifth inning that gave the AirHogs the lead back. From there, Grand Prairie never trailed again.
Both LF Austin Newell and CF Rian Kiniry went 2-for-4 for the AirHogs and Newell added two RBI. The Wingnuts registered eight hits by eight different batters in the game.
