DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that El Paso Diablos Maikol Gonzalez (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Hitter of the Week.
Gonzalez hit safely in five of the Diablos’ six games this week, finishing with an even .500 batting average (13-for-26). A right-handed hitter, Gonzalez tallied four multi-hit games against the T-Bones and AirHogs. In the first game of the week, the infielder went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles in Grand Prairie.
El Paso’s leadoff hitter continued his assault in Kansas City, where he was 8-for-13 in three games. In the final game of the series, Gonzalez again hit two doubles. In that Sunday afternoon game, he also drove in a run and scored three times.
