Lincoln 4, Winnipeg 3 – 12 Innings — Box Score
An RBI single from C Dashenko Ricardo in the bottom of the 12th inning gave the Lincoln Saltdogs a 4-3 walk-off win against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
2B Cesar Valera led off the bottom of the 12th by getting hit by a pitch and moved to third after a pair of walks. Ricardo, who was 2-for-5 with two RBI in the game, came up with the bases loaded and connected on a 1-1 pitch to end the game. The two teams were tied at 3-3 after nine innings thanks to runs in the first four frames. Winnipeg scored all three of their runs in the top of the third – two coming on a double from DH David Bergin.
The Saltdogs scored two in the second, one on a sac fly from Ricardo and the other on a bases-loaded walk. Lincoln tied the game with an unearned run in the fourth from 3B Christian Ibarra.
Fargo-Moorhead 2, Kansas City 1 — Box Score
All of the offense in the game took place in the sixth inning on Tuesday as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks edged the Kansas City T-Bones 2-1.
In the top of the sixth, RF K.D. Kang doubled to center field to score LF Devan Ahart and break the 0-0 tie. In the next at-bat, C Charlie Valerio traded places with a Kang with another double to center to put the RedHawks ahead 2-0. In the bottom of the frame, LF Joe Jackson hit a solo home run, his fourth of the year, to cut the deficit in half but that was the final run of the game for either team.
Starting pitcher Tyler Herron, in his season debut, went 7.1 innings and allowed the one run on three hits while striking out six batters in the winning effort.
Sioux Falls 8, St. Paul 2 — Box Score
Two big blasts from RF Jabari Henry made the difference as the Sioux Falls Canaries moved past the St. Paul Saints 8-2.
Henry’s first home run came in the Canaries’ first at-bat of the game and it gave his team the early 1-0 lead. He left the yard again in the fifth inning but this time it was a grand slam and it pushed the lead to 5-0. He now has six roundtrippers on the season. The Canaries added three more runs in the sixth thanks to a double from LF Ty Morrison and a single from 2B Brett Marr.
St. Paul scored its two runs in the top of the ninth inning when C Maxx Garrett doubled home 1B Tony Thomas and CF Tim Colwell but Reliever Jeff Inman sat the next two Saints down in order to end the game.
Wichita 9, Salina 1 — Box Score
The Wichita Wingnuts gave up the first run of the game but stormed back to snag a 9-1 win against the Salina Stockade Tuesday afternoon.
After LF Roche Woordard’s solo home run in the top of the third, Wichita plated six runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good. That frame featured a pair of a home runs; a two-run shot by 3B T.J. Mittelstaedt and a three-run blast off the bat of RF Richard Prigatano, who was 3-for-3. The Wingnuts added three more in the seventh when CF Harrison Kain left the yard with a three-run home run of his own.
Starting pitcher Alex Boshers (4-2) went the distance in the win, giving up one run on seven hits while striking out three. He needed just 103 pitches to complete the game and 73 of those went for strikes.
Cleburne 9, Texas 1 — Box Score
Riding the back of a complete-game performance from starting pitcher Patrick Mincey, the Cleburne Railroaders topped the Texas AirHogs 9-1.
Mincey (5-0) allowed just one earned run on seven hits in the game and he struck out one batter. He did not issue a walk and needed just 98 pitches to finish the game. The AirHogs’ lone run came in the ninth inning – thanks to an RBI from Ryan Wagner.
The Railroaders backed up Mincey with plenty of run support including a four-RBI performance from 1B Geraldo Valentin who went 2-for-4 with a home run. 2B Mitch Glasser tripled twice and finished the day 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Gary SouthShore 8, Sioux City 2 – Game 1/7 Innings — Box Score
After giving up two runs in the top of the first inning, the Gary SouthShore RailCats settled down and kept the Sioux City Explorers off the board the rest of the way to earn an 8-2 win in game one of their Tuesday twinbill.
The RailCats took the lead in the bottom of the second on the strength of a solo home run from SS Ryan Fitzgerald and an RBI triple from LF Reggie Wilson. They added five insurance runs in the fourth to put the game out of reach. Wilson finished the game with a team-high two RBI and RF Colin Willis had game-high two hits.
For the Explorers, four different batters each had one hit including RF Michael Lang and 1B John Nogowski, who both had an RBI.
Gary SouthShore 4, Sioux City 1 – Game 2/7 Innings — Box Score
The Gary SouthShore RailCats completed the sweep of their doubleheader with the Sioux City Explorers with a 4-1 win in game two.
The RailCats took the lead in the bottom of the first inning as DH Frank Martinez singled home LF Reggie Wilson and then scored when C James Alfonso singled later in the inning. The RailCats added two more in the fourth as Alfonso scored on a single from 2B Andy DeJesus and DeJesus scored on a single from 3B Randy Santiesteban. The Explorers’ lone run came in the top of the seventh when LF Jayce Ray scored after a single from 3B Josh Vitters.
Starting pitcher Braulio Torres-Perez (3-0) earned the win for working six innings and giving up one unearned run on three hits while striking out four batters.
