REDHAWKS WALK OFF ON GOLDEYES IN 11

Fargo-Moorhead 8, Winnipeg 7 (11 Innings) — Box Score

RF Trey Hair provided the first walk-off hit of the 2020 American Association season with a double in the bottom of the 11th inning that gave the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (1-2) an 8-7 win against the Winnipeg Goldeyes (2-1).

The RedHawks were trailing 7-6 heading into the bottom of the ninth but loaded up the bases before conceding the first out. Hair, who went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs on the day, was hit by a pitch to push across the game-tying run. Two innings later, 1B Drew Ward (3-for-5) hit a lead-off single and took second when 3B Leobaldo Pina (2-for-4) )singled. Hair’s double gave the RedHawks their first win of 2020 after Ward touched home.

Three other RedHawks added multi-hit games — including CF Brennan Metzger who went 2-for-5 with a double — as the team racked up 15 hits.

For the Goldeyes, 2B Kevin Lachance went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and RF Logan Hill went 2-for-4 with a home run. 

 

St. Paul 7, Sioux Falls 4 — Box Score

The St. Paul Saints (2-1) made an early lead stand up as they handled the Sioux Falls Canaries (1-2) 7-4.

St. Paul took control of the contest in the second inning as 2B Josh Allen (2-for-2) scored on a wild pitch and LF Sebastian Zawada (2-for-3) scored when C Mitch Ghelfi bounced out. SS Connor Justus scored later in the frame when OF Max Murphy doubled. Allen added a solo shot in the third and he scored again in the fifth on an error.

The Canaries drew within a run in the bottom of the fifth as SS Andrew Ely singled home a pair of runs and OF Logan Landon (2-for-4) added an RBI single in the next at bat but the Saints never allowed the lead to disappear. 3B Chesny Young singled home a run in the sixth and Allen added his second RBI in the ninth with a single that scored PR Justin Byrd.

 

Chicago at Milwaukee — PPD

The contest between the Chicago Dogs and the Milwaukee Milkmen was postponed to a date to be determined.
