Fargo-Moorhead 5, Sioux Falls 4 — Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks walked off on the Sioux Falls Canaries with a 5-4 win in the RedHawks home opener on Memorial Day.
Fargo-Moorhead was trailing heading into the final half inning by a run and it looked as though the score would stay that way as the first two RedHawks went down in order. But SS Zach Penprase, who was 3-for-5 on the night, started the rally with a single. He moved over to second when LF Sawyer Carroll singled and he scored to tie the game when 3B Ronnie Bourquin knocked a base hit into right field. Carroll scored the game-winning run as 1B C.J. Retherford reached first base on an error.
At the plate for the Canaries, CF Chris Valencia went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and SS Stephen Branca was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Reliever Kevin Fuqua picked up the win in his first appearance back with the RedHawks. He spent the 2013 season with the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League.

Behind the white hot bat of 2B Jake Kahaulelio, the Wichita Wingnuts held off the Laredo Lemurs to win 5-3 Monday night in Kansas. Kahaulelio was 3-for-3 on the night with four RBI and a run scored.
Kahaulelio made an impact starting with his first at bat as he pushed SS Ryan Koury across with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning. Kahaulelio blasted a two-run homerun in the fourth and doubled home Koury in the fifth inning to move the Wingnuts out in front 5-1.
The Lemurs cut into the lead in the eighth inning as SS Devin Goodwin, who was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the game, hit a two-run homerun but the Lemurs wouldn’t get any closer. Sioux City 6, Winnipeg 5 — Box Score
The Sioux City Explorers held off a late charge from the Winnipeg Goldeyes to claim a 6-5 win in Winnipeg Monday night.
The Explorers jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first two innings and they extended that lead out to a five-run advantage by the sixth inning. As it turned out, those runs would be enough to win the contest but the Goldeyes made it tight with a three-run homerun by LF Ray Sadler in the eighth and another run in the ninth.
Six of the nine batters in the Sioux City order had two-hit games including SS Nate Samson who had a team-high two RBI. For the Goldeyes, 1B Casey Haerther led the way with a game-high three hits in four at bats to go alongside a run scored.
Grand Prairie 7, Lincoln 6 — Box Score
A late push from the Grand Prairie AirHogs made the difference as they edged the home-standing Lincoln Saltdogs 7-6.

In the next inning, C Vince DeFazio hit into a fielder’s choice that allowed pinch runner Matthew Burns to score.
