CANARIES COME BACK TO WIN IN FARGO

Sioux Falls 9, Fargo-Moorhead 5 Box

The Sioux Falls Canaries scored five runs over the last two innings to engineer a comeback win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Tuesday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field.

The RedHawks led 5-4 with one out in the top of eighth when Canaries 1B Chris Duffy (pictured) scampered home on a wild pitch to tie the game. LF Brandon Jones gave Sioux Falls the lead with a 2-RBI single, which scored SS Stephen Branca and RF Steven Tinoco. The Canaries plated two insurance runs in the ninth, an RBI double by 2B Shelby Ford to score CF Chris Valencia, and an RBI single by C Kevin Dultz to knock in Ford.

The win went to RHP John Brebbia of Sioux Falls, who pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh. RHP Josh Giles shut the door for the Canaries by not allowing a hit over two innings, earning a save.

Jones was 3-for-4 on the day and collected two RBIs. All nine Canaries hitters recorded a base hit, though Jones was the only player with a multi-hit day.

For Fargo-Moorhead, 3B Ron Borquin hit a three-run home run in the first inning, and C Tyler Higgs was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
