Fargo-Moorhead 6, Chicago 3 (Game 1/7 Innings) – Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks held the Chicago Dogs to just three hits as they picked up a 6-3 win in the first game of their Saturday doubleheader.
The Dogs scored two runs in the top of the first as 3B Joey Terdoslavich singled home CF Michael Crouse and 1B K.C. Hobson reached on a fielder’s choice that scored 2B Edwin Arroyo but RF Correlle Prime (4-for-4) tied things up in the bottom half with a two-run homer. 2B Trey Hair (2-for-3) added an RBI single in the second and 3B Leobaldo Pina (2-for-3) did the same in the third. The RedHawks added two more runs in the sixth as CF Forrestt Allday and Prime hit back-to-back RBI singles.
Starting pitcher John Anderson went the distance and allowed three runs on three hits with six strikeouts to earn the win.
Fargo-Moorhead 2, Chicago 1 (Game 2/7 Innings) – Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks completed the sweep of their doubleheader with the Chicago Dogs with a 2-1 win in game two.
The Dogs scored first, just as they did in game one, this time it came in the third inning when C Logan Moore scored as CF Michael Crouse bounced out. In the next inning, DH Drew Ward hit a two-run home run to give the RedHawks the lead. Both teams had just two hits in the game and Dogs’ starter L Westphal took a hard-luck loss after tossing all seven innings recording seven strikeouts.
For the RedHawks, starter Bret Helton earned the win after throwing five innings and allowing one run on two hits while striking out four. Reliever Mitchell Osnowitz picked up the save for working a perfect seventh.
Winnipeg 6, Sioux Falls 2 – Box Score
The Winnipeg Goldeyes (22-15) never trailed on the way to a 6-2 against the Sioux Falls Canaries on Saturday evening in Sioux Falls.
SS Wes Darvill scored the game’s first run when 2B Darnell Sweeney (2-for-4) singled in the top of the first and he scored again in the third when RF Logan Hill bounced out. In the next at-bat, Sweeney scored on a C John Nester (3-for-5) single. Darville added a sac fly in the fourth to plate CF Jonathan Moroney and, in the fifth, 3B Eric Wood singled home Nester. Moroney also scored in the eighth on a pass ball.
The Canaries’ runs came on a two-run home run from 1B Alay Lago (2-for-3) in the bottom of the eighth.
Starter Brandon Crumpton earned the win for working 5.1 scoreless innings and allowing six hits while striking out four.
St. Paul 8, Milwaukee 3 – Box Score
1B John Silviano homered twice for four RBIs to lead the St. Paul Saints past the Milwaukee Milkmen 8-3.
Silviano went 2-for-5 in the game including a three-run homer in the sixth and a solo shot to cap the scoring in the top of the ninth. C Chris Chinea added a pair of RBIs for the Saints and LF Alonzo Harris, 2B Josh Allen and 3B Chesny Young each added a pair of hits.
For the Milkmen, CF Brett Vertigan went 2-for-3 with an RBI and both 2B Dylan Tice and SS Mason Davis had two-hit games.
Starting pitcher Nick Belzer went five innings and gave up two runs on four hits while striking out three batters. He improved to 2-3 on the year with the win.
