REDHAWKS SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER FROM STOCKADE

Fargo-Moorhead 6, Salina 3 (Game 1 – 7 Innings) – Box

Fargo-Moorhead rallied from a 3-2 deficit with a four-run third inning as the RedHawks downed the Salina Stockade, 6-3 in game one of a doubleheader. Third baseman Josh Mazzola and CF Kes Carter hit two of the three home runs by Fargo-Moorhead, both of which were two-run shots in the pivotal third. RedHawks 2B Ryan Pineda hit the other blast while DH Jesus Posso had a pair of hits and scored a run. Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Cesilio Pimentel tossed 5 1/3 solid innings and picked up his second victory of the season. Pimentel allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out two batters.

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Salina 3 (Game 2 – 7 Innings) – Box

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks tallied three runs in the third inning to open up a 5-1 advantage and would go on to complete the doubleheader sweep by winning game two, 7-3. Fargo-Moorhead launched four more home runs in this contest highlighted by the two blasts from 3B Josh Mazzola. Mazzola finished with a total of three home runs in the twinbill along with five RBI.  RedHawks 2B Ryan Pineda hit his second home run of the doubleheader while C Jesus Posso collected another two hits. Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Mike O’Neal evened his record at 1-1 on the season with the victory. O’Neal allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Cleburne 5, Lincoln 2 – Box

The Cleburne Railroaders opened up a tight 2-1 game with three runs in the ninth inning and would go on to win by the score of 5-2 over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Right fielder Mitch Glasser led the offensive charge for Cleburne by going 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored. Railroaders 1B Geraldo Valentin had two hits in five at-bats along with two RBI while CF KC Huth chipped in a pair of hits and plated a run. Cleburne starter Patrick Mincey had a strong six inning performance en route to his first win of the year. Mincey gave up an earned run on six hits and fanned three Lincoln batters. For the Saltdogs in the losing effort, 2B Cesar Valera had a 2-for-4 night with a run batted in.

Wichita 19, Winnipeg 4 – Box

It was all Wichita in this contest as the Wingnuts jumped out to a 11-0 lead after three innings of play and would roll from there to a 19-4 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Wichita pounded out 18 hits in the game with six batters collecting at least two. Wingnuts leadoff hitter Harrison Kain led the surge going 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBI. Wichita SS Leo Vargas had a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI while 1B Matt Chavez chipped in three hits and five runs batted in. Wingnuts pitcher Eddie Medina had more than enough run support to pick-up the big victory. Medina tossed five shutout innings allowing only four hits to go along with four strikeouts.
