REDHAWKS RUN WINNING STREAK TO 8

Fargo-Moorhead 3, Chicago 2 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (57-28) tallied their eighth win in a row as they edged the Chicago Dogs 3-2 on Friday night at Impact Field.

The RedHawks broke the scoreless tie in the top of the sixth with a solo home run from DH Drew Ward. In the seventh, LF Alec Olund (2-for-3) lifted a sac fly that scored SS Sam Dexter and 3B Nick Novak singled home CF Evan Alexander (2-for-4). The Dogs responded in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run from 1B K.C. Hobson (2-for-4). 

The Dogs threatened in the bottom of the ninth as DH Grant Kay provided a sac fly that scored C Ryan Lidge and pulled Chicago within one run. Reliever Joe Jones recorded outs in the next two at-bats to seal the win and earn the save. 

Starting pitcher Peyton Wigginton snagged the win as he went seven innings and allowed just one earned run on four hits while striking out six batters. 

 

Kansas City 5, Lincoln 4 – Box Score

The Kansas CIty Monarchs (53-31) held off the Lincoln Saltdogs as they secured a 5-4 win at Haymarket Park on Friday night. 

The Monarchs struck first with a solo home run from RF Casey Gillaspie (2-for-3) in the top of the second and they padded that lead with a grand slam from SS Kevin Santa in the fourth. The Saltdogs found the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth when SS Rayder Ascanio (2-for-4) and 3B Ryan Long hit back-to-back solo homers.

In the bottom of the eighth, Ascanio hit his second home run of the night, this one a two-run shot, to pull the Saltdogs within one but it proved to be the final run of the game. 

 

Cleburne 4, Kane County 0 – Box Score

The Cleburne Railroaders (38-46) shutout the Kane County Cougars 4-0 on Friday night at Northwestern Medicine Field. 

The Railroaders took the lead in the top of the first when LF Chuck Taylor (2-for-5)  scored on a pass ball and doubled that lead in the third when 1B Wyatt Mathisen singled home 3B Chase Simpson (2-for-4). In the fifth, CF Zach Nehrir scored when3B Chase Simpson (2-for-4) reached on an error and Simpson scored on a sac fly from C Mitch Ghelfi

On the bump, starting pitcher Kody Bullard picked up the win as he threw six scoreless innings and allowed four hits while striking out three batters. 

For Kane County, both DH Ernie De La Trinidad and C Josh Rolette went 2-for-4. 

 

Milwaukee 4, Sioux Falls 2 – Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen (45-40) plated three early runs and held on to top the SIoux Falls Canaries 4-2 on Friday night at Franklin Field. 

In the bottom of the second, RF Carl Chester doubled to score DH Hector Sanchez and LF Aaron Hill (2-for-3) and then scored when SS Jeremiah Burks (2-for-3) singled to center to give the Milkmen a 3-0 lead. The Canaries drew one back in the third as SS Osvaldo Martinez singled home C John Nester and scored again in the fourth with a sac fly from CF Kona Quiggle.

The Milkmen added one more in the fourth as Burks singled to plate Hill, securing the two-run advantage.   

 

Lake Country 14, Gary SouthShore 5 – Box Score

The Lake Country DockHounds built an insurmountable early lead and rolled to a 14-5 win against the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Friday at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park. 

All nine DockHounds recorded at least one in the contest and five of them had multi-hit nights. Batting in the nine-hole, 2B Jordan Schaffer led the way as he went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs. 3B Tristan Carranza also had three hits in the game and scored four times. RF Daikan Yoh homered twice to plate seven RBIs for the DockHounds.

Both SS Gabriel Noriega and C Wilfredo Gimenez added a pair of hits.

For the RailCats, SS Daniel Lingua and RF LG Castillo recorded two hits and 1B S Abbott had his 15th homer of the year.  

 

Winnipeg at Sioux City – Postponed

The game between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Sioux City Explorers was postponed due to wet field conditions on Friday evening. The contest will be made up tomorrow, Saturday, August 20 as a part of a doubleheader set to begin at 4:05 p.m. Both games will be 7 innings.
