REDHAWKS ROLL TO 11TH STRAIGHT VICTORY

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Winnipeg 2 – Box

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks keep rolling along as they win their 11th straight contest in a 7-2 decision over Winnipeg. Fargo-Moorhead tallied two runs over each of the first three innings to take a 6-1 lead and would never back en route to the big win. RedHawks SS Yhoxian Medina went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while 3B Josh Mazzola added a pair of hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Tyler Herron tossed eight solid innings to earn his sixth victory of the season. Herron allowed an earned run on five hits to go with two walks and four strikeouts. With the victory, the RedHawks take over sole possession of first place in the North Division.

Kansas City 2, Texas 1 (10 Innings) – Box

Kansas City RF Kyle Petty scored the game winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning as the T-Bones defeated Texas in walk-off fashion, 2-1. The AirHogs carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth before Kansas City CF Cedric Hunter singled home DH Leonardo Rojas to tie it at 1-1. Hunter finished the night 2-for-5 with a RBI while 1B Kevin Keyes added a single and a pair of walks. T-Bones reliever Cody Winiarski gave up two hits in the top of 10th but did not allow a run and grabbed his third win of the season. With the victory, Kansas City has now won four straight and sits three games behind Lincoln in the race for the Central Division.

Lincoln 6, Sioux Falls 3 (10 Innings) – Box

The Lincoln Saltdogs scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to take the lead for good as they defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries by a 6-3 final. Lincoln had a 3-0 advantage going into the bottom of the eighth only to see the Canaries score two runs in the frame and another one in the ninth to force extra innings. Saltdogs 1B/RF Curt Smith led the way offensively going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI while 3B Joe Robbins collected two hits, including a double, and a RBI. Lincoln reliever Michael Wagner gave up the tying run in the ninth inning (3B Burt Reynolds home run) but still ended up notching his third victory of the season. For Sioux Falls in the losing effort, leadoff hitter Dan Motl had a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate with a run scored and a RBI.

St. Paul 13, Sioux City 1 – Box

After falling behind 1-0 through four innings, the St. Paul Saints took over the game in a big way scoring 13 consecutive runs over the next three innings and rolling to a 13-1 victory over Sioux City. The Saints pounded out 17 hits in the contest with six batters having multi-hit games. St. Paul RF Breland Almadova went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI while CF Kes Carter added a two-run blast and scored twice. Β St. Paul starter Ryan Zimmerman had more than enough run support to nab the victory. Zimmerman gave up an earned run on seven hits to go along with five walks and six strikeouts. The righty is now 5-4 on the year.

Wichita 4, Cleburne 0 – Box

Wichita starting pitcher Jordan Cooper and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Wingnuts downed the Cleburne Railroaders, 4-0. Cooper went the first seven innings of the contest allowing only three hits while fanning four in an 83-pitch effort. The bullpen duo of James Campbell and Mike Devine each tossed a scoreless inning of relief giving up only a hit and striking out a batter. Cooper nailed down the victory and is now 5-1 on the season. Offensively for Wichita, C Martin Medina led the way going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI. The Wingnuts scored single runs in the second and third innings before adding a pair in the fifth.
