REDHAWKS RALLY TO WALK-OFF WIN

Fargo-Moorhead 3, Winnipeg 2 Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks saved the best for last as they turned a one-run deficit heading into the bottom of the ninth into a 3-2 walk-off win against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

The Goldeyes led 2-1 thanks to RBI singles from 2B Casio Grider, who went 3-for-4, and SS Maikol Gonzalez in the second and fifth innings, respectively. In the bottom of the ninth, CF Kes Carter and LF Chad Mozingo both singled and when 2B Ryan Pineda doubled, Carter scored to tie the game. After DH Keury De La Cruz, who was 3-for-4, was intentionally walked, 3B Josh Mazzola (pictured) singled to score Mozingo and end the game.

Mazzola and Pineda each went 2-for-5 on the night, and for the Goldeyes, 1B Jacob Rogers also had a pair of hits.

 

St. Paul 5, Sioux Falls 4 — Box Score

The St. Paul Saints edged the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-4 in the first game of their four-game series.

The Saints took the lead in the top of the second inning when LF Tony Thomas scored as C Aaron Gretz bounced out. Gretz singled in another run in the top of the fourth to double the Saints’ advantage. After Thomas drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the fifth, Sioux Falls’ 2B Frank Martinez hit a two-run home run, his fourth of the year, to pull back within one. But the Canaries would never get any closer than that, as the Saints matched them the rest of the way.

The Canaries threatened in the bottom of the ninth as 3B Ozney Guillen singled to score C Nolan Johnson but 1B David Berginlined out in the next at-bat to end the game.

 

Wichita 10, Texas 2 – Final/ 8 Innings-Rain Box Score

Before the rain shortened the contest between the Wichita Wingnuts and the Texas AirHogs, Wichita took control of the night with a seven-run fifth inning and ultimately came away with a 10-2 win.

The Wingnuts were leading 3-2 going into the fifth and then they sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven runs on five hits and an error. RF Richard Prigatano and CF Harrison Kane, who both had two hits in the game, each had two-RBI singles in the rally. Eight of the nine batters in the Wingnuts’ order scored a run in the game and lead-off man 2B Christian Stringer went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. SS Leo Vargas also added a pair of hits.

For the AirHogs, LF Burt Reynolds went 3-for-4 and 2B Brian Bistagne went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
