FARGO-MOORHEAD’S TRAVIS BALLEW SOLD TO MARLINS

Durham, N.C. — The contract of Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks RHP Travis Ballew was purchased by the Miami Marlins’ organization, the American Association announced on Friday.

Ballew, 25, was outstanding out of the bullpen in his first season with Fargo-Moorhead, going 1-0 with a 1.63 ERA in 10 appearances. He allowed just seven hits in eleven innings of work while striking out 13.

Previously, the Rockwall, Texas, native spent four seasons in the Houston Astros’ organization, reaching the Triple-A level in 2015. He was a 23rd-round choice by the Astros in the 2012 draft out of Texas State University.
