REDHAWKS CLAIM 10TH WIN IN LAST 11 GAMES

Fargo-Moorhead 5, Milwaukee 2 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks knocked off the Milwaukee Milkmen 5-2 on Friday night at Franklin Field.

The RedHawks scored the game’s first runs in the top of the second when 2B Christian Ibarra (3-for-4) hit a two-run home run. DH Drew Ward followed with a lead-off home run in the third and CF Forrestt Allday added a solo shot in the fourth. RF Alex Boxwell (2-for-4) capped the fireworks show with a solo home run of his own in the sixth.

For the Milkmen, both of their runs came in the bottom of the eighth inning when DH Jose Sermo reached on an error which allowed CF Brett Vertigan (2-for-4) to score and then Sermo scored in the next at-bat when 1B David Washington singled.

Starting pitcher Tyler Pike went 7.1 innings and allowed one run on five hits while striking out eight batters. Reliever Tyler Wilson picked up the save with a perfect ninth.

The RedHawks, who have won 10 of their last 11 games, are now in a tie for third place, 2.5 games out of the playoffs with five to play.

 

Winnipeg 8, St. Paul 3 – Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes took game one of their series with the St. Paul Saints 8-3 on Friday night at CHS Field.

The Saints built a 2-0 lead as 2B Mikey Reynolds (2-for-5) hit a lead-off homer in the third and an RBI single in the fourth. But in the bottom of the fourth, 3B Darnell Sweeney (2-for-4) put the Goldeyes on the board with a lead-off homer of his own. The Goldeyes took the lead in the next inning as CF Breland Almadova hit an RBI double and 2B Kevin Lachance (3-for-3) scored on a balk.

SS Drew Stankiewicz (3-for-4) hit a solo shot for the Saints in the top of the sixth but that would be their final run of the game. Meanwhile, the Goldeyes kept digging; they loaded up the bases in the bottom of the frame and DH Jordan George drew a walk, Lachance singled home two runs and George touched the plate thanks to a wild pitch.

RF Logan Hill added a solo home run in the seventh to put a bow on the win.

The Goldeyes are tied with Fargo-Moorhead for third place in the standings, 2.5 games behind Sioux Falls for the final playoff spot.

 

Sioux Falls 10, Chicago 5 – Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries left the yard five times on the way to a 10-5 win against the Chicago Dogs Friday night in Sioux Falls.

CF Logan Landon hit two of those five home runs as he went 2-for-5 with five RBIs on the night. SS Andrew Ely, C Clint Coulter (2-for-4) and DH Jabari Henry (3-for-4, 2 RBIs, 2 Rs) all added home runs as well. Coulter also hit his 15th double of the year. For the Dogs, 2B Edwin Arroyo went 2-for-4 with two runs and SS Blake Allemand went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Starting pitcher Tyler Danish earned the win for the Canaries as he worked seven innings and allowed one run, unearned, while walking three and striking out seven.

The win keeps the Canaries firmly in second place but just 1.5 games behind Milwaukee at the top of the 2020 American Association standings.
