Milwaukee 3, Fargo-Moorhead 2 (11 Innings) – Box Score
The Milwaukee Milkmen walked off on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 3-2 in 11 innings and clinched a playoff spot in the process.
The RedHawks took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning as SS Sam Dexter scored on a pass ball and RF Alex Boxwell scored two pitches later when CF Forrestt Allday bounced out to second. A 3B Logan Trowbridge (2-or-3) solo shot put the Milkmen on the board five innings later and, in the bottom of the ninth, LF Adam Brett Walker II hit his 22nd homer of the year to tie the score and force extras.
In the bottom of the 11th, Trowbridge drew a leadoff walk and eventually came around to score the game-winning run when DH Jose Sermo reached on an error by the left fielder.
CF Brett Vertigan added a 2-for-5 performance for the Milkmen.
The win coupled with the Saints win against the Goldeyes gives the Milkmen a five-game lead over the three-way tie for third place with just four games to play sealing the first playoff berth of 2020.
St. Paul 7, Winnipeg 6 (12 Innings) – Box Score
The St. Paul Saints edged the Winnipeg Goldeyes 7-6 in 12 innings on Saturday night at CHS Field.
The Saints were trailing 6-5 heading into the top of the ninth inning but tied the score when LF Chuck Taylor (2-for-6) singled to score 3B Chesny Young (2-for-4). The score remained level until the top of the 12th when CF Alonzo Harris scored on a triple from SS Nate Samson.
C Chris Chinea added a pair of hits for the Saints and, for the Goldeyes, 2B Kevin Lachance went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. DH Jordan George added two RBIs for he Goldeyes.
Sioux Falls 11, Chicago 4 – Box Score
The Sioux Falls Canaries picked up win number 30 on the year as they toppled the Chicago Dogs 11-4 on Saturday evening at home.
In the second, C Logan Moore (2-for-3) scored as 2B Blake Allemend hit into a fielder’s choice to give the Dogs a 1-0 lead but the Canaries took control in the bottom of the frame. There. CF Logan Landon (4-for-6, 4 RBIs) singled to push DH Jabari Henry and 1B Mike Hart across the plate. 1B Grant Kay (2-for-3) scored on an error and Landon scored later in the inning when 3B Damek Tomscha singled.
The Canaries added three more runs in the third; LF Ryan Brett hit into a fielder’s choice that allowed Hart to score and then scored when Landon doubled and Landon scored when SS Andrew Ely singled. The Canaries added three more runs in the eighth as Brett hit a sac fly, Landon added an RBI double and RF Madison Younginer (1-for-1) scored on a wild pitch.
Starting pitcher Ty Culbreth went seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three batters.
