RAILROADERS FINISH DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP OF GOLDEYES

Cleburne

Cleburne 5, Winnipeg 2 (F/7 Game Two of Doubleheader)- Box Score

The Cleburne Railroaders finished off a doubleheader sweep of the Winnipeg Goldeyes Sunday night, winning 5-2 after winning 8-0 earlier in the day.

DH Kenny Meimerstorf picked up an RBI single to give the Railroaders a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Cleburne made it a 3-0 game with a two-run third that included an RBI double by 2B Chase Simpson and a sac-fly by 1B Jonathan Rodriguez.

The Goldeyes cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the fourth, scoring one on a 3B Dominic Ficociello RBI single, but that would be the last run they would score.

Rodriguez hit his second home run of the day in the top of the seventh. Rodriguez entered the doubleheader with no home runs on the season.

SP Michael Gunn allowed two runs in five innings of work to earn the win.

 

St. Paul 6, Milwaukee 5-Box Score

The St. Paul Saints held on to defeat the Milwaukee Milkmen on Sunday.

The Milkmen scored three in the top of the eighth to bring the game to its final score after trailing 6-2.

1B Brady Shoemaker led the Saints, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

Milwaukee outhit St. Paul 13 to 5 in the loss. 2B Garrett Copeland paced the Milkmen, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

RHP Landon Beck was awarded the win for St. Paul. RHP Todd Van Steensel pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

 

 

Lincoln 9, Texas 4- Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs used the long ball to top the Texas AirHogs on Sunday.

3B Christian Ibarra and DH Curt Smith both homered once for the Saltdogs. LF Cody Regis went deep twice, driving in four in the process.

DH Jonathan Moroney paced the AirHogs, going 3-for-5 at the plate with one home run and three RBIs.

RHP Jake Hohensee pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 9, Sioux City 2-Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks topped the Sioux City Explorers 9-2 in a rubber match on Sunday.

The RedHawks led 6-0 through the top of the seventh with DH Correlle Prime hitting an RBI ground rule double in the top of the fourth, RF Tim Colwell hitting a solo home run in the top fifth, and LF T.J. Bennet hitting a solo home run to lead off the top of the sixth.

The Explorers cut the lead to four with a two-run bottom of the seventh, but Fargo-Moorhead would plate three in the top of the ninth to bring the game to its final score.

SP Tyler Pike (3-2) allowed just two hits and three walks in his scoreless five inning start.
