Gary SouthShore 6, Wichita 4 (12 Innings) – Box

Gary SouthShore scored two runs in the top of the 12th inning to top the Wichita Wingnuts by the score of 6-4. The RailCats jumped out to an early 4-0 lead as they plated two runs in the first inning and two more in the third. The advantage would stay that way through 5 ½ innings before Wichita scored four runs over the next three frames to tie the contest at 4-4. The game would eventually go into extra innings with Gary SouthShore breaking through in the 12th plating two runs on a CF Chase Harris RBI triple and a LF Reggie Wilson run scoring single. Harris collected a pair of hits in five at-bats while 1B Frank Martinez had a perfect 2-for-2 night at the plate and two RBI. RailCats pitcher Jorge De Leon threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to pick-up the win and improve his mark to 5-1 on the year.

Lincoln 3, Salina 1 (5 1/2 Innings – Rain) – Box

The Lincoln Saltdogs keep pace with Kansas City in the tight Central Division race as they downed the Salina Stockade, 3-1 in a game shortened to 5 ½ innings due to rain. Lincoln tallied all three of their runs in the fourth inning as 1B Curt Smith and LF Brandon Jacobs hit back-to-back home runs to lead-off the frame while CF Joe Robbins plated an unearned run two outs later. Saltdogs starting pitcher Brian McAfee allowed an earned run on six hits in the complete game effort to notch his second win of the season. McAfee gave up a pair of walks and three strikeouts in the 73 pitches thrown. For Salina, C Cody Coffman went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Kansas City 5, Fargo-Moorhead 2 – Box

Kansas City jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of play and would cruise from there to a 5-2 win over Fargo-Moorhead. T-Bones 1B Kevin Keyes led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI. Kansas City 2B Marcus Lemon tallied a pair of runs in a 1-for-3 night while DH Tyler Horan blasted a two-run home run in the second inning. Kansas City starter Scott Carroll tossed seven innings of solid baseball in earning his fifth win of the season. Carroll gave up two earned runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. With the victory, the T-Bones stay a game ahead of Lincoln in the Central Division.

Cleburne 3, Texas 1 – Box

Cleburne RF Derrick Pyles’ RBI single in the third inning gave the Railroaders a 2-1 lead and that proved to be the difference in the game as they went on to win by the score of 3-1 over Texas. Pyles had two hits in the game and two RBI while 2B Mitch Glasser had a pair of hits and two runs scored. Cleburne CF KC Huth also chipped in with two hits and a run batted in. Railroaders starting pitcher Jorge Martinez threw seven solid innings in earning his second win of the season. Martinez gave up an unearned run on four hits to go along with two walks and four strikeouts.

Winnipeg 9, Sioux City 2 – Box

Winnipeg plated four runs in the third inning to extend their lead to 5-0 and would go on to a big 9-2 victory over the Sioux City Explorers. The Goldeyes had 11 hits in the contest with four batters having multi-hit games. Winnipeg LF Josh Romanski went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI while DH David Bergin had a double, two runs scored and two RBI. Goldeyes RF David Rohm, 3B Wes Darvill and 2B Mason Katz each chipped in with two hits in four plate appearances and scored a run. Winnipeg starter Edwin Carl gave up two earned runs in 7 2/3 innings of work to collect his third consecutive victory. Carl allowed no walks and five hits while striking out 11 Sioux City batters. The righty is now 5-1 on the year.
