RAILCATS’ DIRECTOR RECEIVES LEGENDS AWARD

Salvi

Chicago – On Monday, June 13, the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame awarded Gary SouthShore RailCats owner Patrick A. Salvi (photo, left) the first Tommy Lasorda Legends Award for contributions made to the game of baseball.

In addition to the RailCats, Salvi, a Chicago trial lawyer, is the owner of two other clubs, the independent Schaumburg (Ill.) Boomers of the Frontier League and the summer collegiate North Shore Navigators, located in Lynn, Mass.

While under Salvi’s ownership, the RailCats won their 3rd league championship in 2013 when they captured the American Association crown. Boomers were named the Frontier League Organization of the Year in 2013 and won the Frontier League Championship in 2013 and 2014.  In 2015, the Navigators were named the Futures Collegiate League Organization of the Year.

“I am thrilled to receive this award from the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame,” Salvi said. “As an Italian American I am especially proud to be so honored.  Also, I have the highest regard for Tommy Lasorda (photo, right) and the fact that the award is named after him makes it very special.”
