Wichita 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 – Box
C Martin Medina’s walk-off single scored Zack Cox in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Wichita Wingnuts over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 4-3. Reliever Frankie Reed earned the win throwing a scoreless ninth inning. Wingnuts’ RF Brent Clevlen paced the offense as he went 3-for-5 at the plate to increase his average to .301. Clevlen was one of five Wingnuts to record at least two base hits in the game. For Fargo-Moorhead, DH K.D. Kang guided the offense going 3-for-4. Currently, Kang his hitting .330 this season which is second best on the team.
Texas 4, Sioux City 2 – Box
The AirHogs broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning as Brian Bistagne scored on a sacrifice fly from SS Juan Sanchez to propel Texas to a 4-2 victory over the Sioux City Explorers. Starter Sam Martin earned the win hurling six innings, allowing two earned runs while reliever Carlos Misell recorded the save throwing a scoreless ninth inning. Bistagne went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and CF Michael Hur went 2-for-4. Sioux City outhit Texas 9-8 and were led by 1B Ralph Henriquez who went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Sioux Falls 9, Joplin 7 – Box
The Sioux Falls offense erupted in the latter half of the game scoring eight runs over the final five frames en route to a 9-7 win over the Joplin Blasters. SS Blake Schmit guided the attack going 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored. Starter Shawn Blackwell received the win on the hill tossing six innings, allowing only four earned runs as reliever Madison Boer recorded the save. For Joplin, 2B Mitch Glasser went 3-for-4 as the Blasters outhit the Canaries 15-12. The Blasters scored three runs in the eighth inning to cut the deficit to two.
Lincoln 9, Gary SouthShore 7 – Box
Saltdogs’ 1B Curt Smith went 3-for-4 to lead Lincoln to a 9-7 victory over the Gary SouthShore Railcats. Lincoln outhit the RailCats 14-9 as reliever Stephen Shackleford logged the win while Evan Reed received the save. Gary SouthShore cut the deficit to two scoring five runs in the top of the eighth inning. SS Jose Sermo came into the game as a pinch-hitter and went 2-for-2 with four RBI, blasting his fifth home run this season.
Laredo 6, Kansas City 2 – Box
The Lemurs’ offense scored three runs in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie as Laredo defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 6-2. 1B Abel Nieves went 3-for-4 and LF Ty Morrison went 2-for-4 to spark the offense. Lemurs’ reliever Luis De La Cruz received the win throwing a scoreless seventh inning. For Kansas City, starter Jared Messer provided the club with a solid outing allowing two earned runs in five innings while SS Vladimir Frias paced the offense recording two hits.
St. Paul 6, Winnipeg 5 – Box
St. Paul 1B Angelo Songco’s RBI single in the ninth inning helped secure the Saints’ 6-5 win against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Starter John Straka logged the win allowing four earned runs over five innings of work while reliever Ryan Rodebaugh recorded the save. Songco went 3-for-5, hitting his seventh home run of the year and was one of four Saints to have at least two hits in the game. For Winnipeg, DH Adam Heisler and RF David Rohm each hit home runs to lead the Goldeyes’ offense that had 12 hits.
