PULFER POWERS RAILCATS WITH THREE-RBI NIGHT

The Gary SouthShore RailCats edged the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 5-4 behind a three-RBI performance from 3B Daniel Pulfer.

Pulfer, who finished the night 2-for-3, registered his first RBI in the bottom of the third inning with a sacrifice fly that scored CF Drew Muren. That run put the RailCats ahead 2-1 but the RedHawks took the lead back with two runs in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh Pulfer put the RailCats back in front with a double that pushed two runs across. The RedHawks scored on a sac fly in the ninth but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Pulfer was one of three RailCats to have two hits in the game as C Craig Maddox and LF Josh Romanski also had a pair of hits. For the RedHawks, 2B C.J. Retherford, C Petey Paramore and SS Zach Penprase all went 2-for-4.

 

Sioux City 13, Kansas City 6Box Score

Behind a pair of five-run innings the Sioux City Explorers downed the Kansas City T-Bones 13-6 on Monday night.

All nine starters for each team registered at least one hit in the contest as the teams combined for 25 hits. Leading the way for the Explorers was RF Peter Barrows as he went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored. Both 1B Rene Tosoni and DH Amos Ramon each added two hits for the Explorers. 3B Tommy Mendonca and SS Chris Escobar both had two-RBI games. For the T-Bones, C Brian Erie went 3-for-4 with three RBI and 1B Nick Schwaner was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Reliever Geoff Broussard picked up the win for his two innings of work in the sixth and seventh innings. He did not allow a run or a hit and 19 of his 31 pitches were strikes.

 

 

Quebec at Amarillo – Postponed

Monday night’s interleague game between the Quebec Capitales and the Amarillo Sox was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up Tuesday as a part of a double header scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. Central Time.
