Laredo 13, Sioux Falls 5- Box
The Lemurs led 10-2 after four innings as they cruised to victory in Sioux Falls. RF Byron Wiley, in his first game with Laredo, had two home runs as part of a 3-for-5 game. 2B Travis Denker (pictured) was 3-for-5 with two home runs of his own, and drove in six runs. LF J.P. Ramirez homered in a 4-for-5 night with three RBI. All-Star 1B John Alonso also had a home run, as he went 2-for-5 in the game. SS Devin Goodwin also went 3-for-4.
For Sioux Falls, CF Chris Valencia was 3-for-4 with two RBI. LHP Casey Harman struck out eight in seven and 2/3 innings for the win for Laredo.
Winnipeg 4, St. Paul 0 (Completion of suspended game from 6/14)
The Goldeyes defeated the Saints in the completion of a suspended game from June. CF Reggie Abercrombie drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring RF Donnie Webb. In the seventh, 3B Jake Blackwood hit an RBI triple to score SS Tyler Kuhn. Blackwood scored the game’s final run on an RBI single by C Luis Alen.
St. Paul 4, Winnipeg 3 (Doubleheader Game Two- 7 innings)- Box
The Saints roared back with four runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull off a win over the Goldeyes. With two outs, LF Joe Bonfe was on third base for the Saints when CF Jared McDonald doubled. C Dwight Childs followed with a double to score McDonald for the Saints’ second run. Childs scored when 3B Devin Thaut singled. RF Evan Bigley, an American Association All-Star, drove in Thaut to put the Saints ahead.
Bonfe was 3-for-3 in the game. Thaut and 2B Sam Maus had two hits each. RHP Nick Barnese earned the win for the Saints with three strikeouts over six innings. All-Star RHP Dan Sattler saved his 13th game of the season.
Quebec 14, Amarillo 7 (Doubleheader Game One- 7 innings)- Box
The Capitales scored in six of the seven innings en route to a dominating win in the opener of a twinbill. CF Sebastien Boucher was 5-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. 3B Balbino Fuenmayor was 1-for-2, but drove in four of his own, including a two-RBI double in the top of the first. 2B Mike Provencher was 4-for-5 with an RBI for Quebec. LF Matt Helms, DH Rene Leveret and RF Asif Shah also had multi-hit games.
For Amarillo, 2B Brandon Pinckney was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.
RHP Zach Staniewicz struck out three over five innings to earn the win for Quebec.
Quebec 6, Amarillo 2 (Doubleheader Game Two- 7 innings)- Box
A four-run seventh led Quebec to sweep the interleague doubleheader. 3B Balbino Fuenmayor hit a bases-clearing double to score three of the runs, part of a 3-for-4 game for Fuenmayor. 2B Mike Provencher also had two hits for Quebec. LF Joe Weik was 3-for-4 for Amarillo in the loss. All-Star Karl Gelinas threw a complete game for the Capitales, striking out two.
Trois-Rivieres 3, Lincoln 1- Box
Trois-Rivieres grabbed an early 2-0 lead after an inning and held it the rest of the way. RF Carlos Guzman hit a two-RBI single, scoring 2B Jose Cuevas and 1B Michael Hernandez. The two teams traded runs in the seventh when RF Brian Joynt singled home C Chris Anderson for Lincoln, and Cuevas hit a solo home run for Trois-Rivieres.
Cuevas, Hernandez, Guzman and C Kyle Lafrenz had two hits each for Trois-Rivieres. CF Matt Forgatch was 3-for-5 for the Saltdogs.
All-Star RHP Matt Rusch struck out five over six innings to earn the win for the Aigles. RHP Sean Keeler saved the game with a scoreless ninth.
Kansas City 4, Sioux City 0- Box
2B Danny Richar had a three-run home run in the third inning as the T-Bones shut out the Explorers on the road. CF Robby Kuzdale was 2-for-4 for the T-Bones as well. 1B Nick Schwaner hit an RBI double in the second to open the scoring. DH Amos Ramon was 3-for-4 for Sioux City. 2B Andres Perez had two hits for the Explorers. RHP Casey Barnes struck out five in seven shutout innings en route to earning the win.
Gary SouthShore 7, Fargo-Moorhead 6- Box
In a game that was delayed by rain, the RailCats held off a comeback try by the RedHawks to take the win.
3B Daniel Pulfer was 4-for-4 on the night and opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning. He scored on a bases-loaded walk drawn by C Ryan Babineau. In the fifth, DH Craig Maddox, an All-Star at reserve catcher, hit an RBI double. An inning later, Pulfer tripled and scored on an error. CF Josh Romanski had a two-run triple in the seventh and scored on a passed ball.
The RedHawks scored four runs from the seventh inning on, but the RailCats shut the door. RF Drew Martinez, 2B Zac Mitchell and Romanski had two hits each for Gary. RHP Stephen Hiscock struck out four over six and 2/3 innings for the win. RHP James Parr struck out two in the ninth for his fourth save.
Wichita 4, Grand Prairie 3- Box
Two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings were enough for Wichita to win on the road on Tuesday. All-Star CF Brent Clevelen had an RBI triple in the sixth en route to a 3-for-4 night. DH Taylor Oldham and 1B Trevor Whyte scored on a fielder’s choice and a sacrifice fly, respectively, in the sixth. SS Ryan Khoury, 2B Jake Kahaulelio and Oldham had two hits each.
1B Jason Botts was 3-for-4 for the AirHogs. He had an RBI in the game.
All-Star RHP Jason Van Skike went six innings for the Wingnuts, striking out two for the win. Fellow All-Star RHP Matt Nevarez worked a scoreless ninth for the save.
