DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Kansas City T-Bones RHP Chris Perry (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 18.

Perry was masterful in his lone start this week, which came Monday at the Wichita Wingnuts. Over seven shutout innings, he allowed just one hit and one walk. The Cary, N.C. native struck out nine Wingnuts in the effort. He faced only 24 hitters, three over the minimum. Perry would take a no-decision in the game, as the Wingnuts came back against the bullpen to win 4-3.

On the season, Perry is 0-1 with a 3.41 ERA. He has struck out 36 in 26.1 innings, spanning five starts.

2017 marks Perry’s first season in Independent Baseball following a four-year stint in the St. Louis Cardinals system. Picked in the 17th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, Perry debuted in 2013 by making 13 starts between Short Season Class A State College (Pa.) and Class A Peoria (Ill.). He went 4-4 with a 3.18 ERA. Working exclusively as a reliever in 2014, Perry compiled a 5-1 record and 2.14 ERA over 41 games with Peoria and Class A Advanced Palm Beach (Fla.). He split 2015 between Palm Beach and Class AA Springfield (Mo.), and then spent the entirety of 2016 at Springfield. Perry played collegiately at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C.

The T-Bones open a three-game home series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks tonight at 7:05 p.m. Central time at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The series can be seen in its entirety live and for free at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
