Sioux Falls 3, Chicago 1- Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries scored three in the bottom of the fifth to defeat the Chicago Dogs 3-1 on Wednesday.

Canaries’ starter Cesilio Pimentel made his one mistake in the top of the second, giving up a lead-off triple to Jonathan Moroney, who scored in the next at bat on a sacrifice fly by Matt Dean. In the win, Pimentel struck out two and walked on while scattering seven hits in 6.1 innings of work.

Mike Hart led off the bottom of the fifth for Sioux Falls with a double and advanced to third on a single by Brandon Jacobs in the next at bat. Then, Patrick Fiala doubled to score both Hart and Jacobs. Later in the inning, Fiala would score himself on a groundout to take a 3-1 lead.

James Jones pitched a scoreless top of the ninth to earn the save.

 

Sioux City 9, Kansas City 8- Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers held on to defeat the Kansas City T-Bones 9-8 on Wednesday.

The T-Bones struck first, scoring one in each of the two first innings, but the Explorers answered with a five-run top of the third to take a 5-2 lead.

The inning began with five straight singles, allowing three Sioux City base runners to cross home plate on RBIs by Luis Durango, Michael Lang, and Nate Samson. After the fifth single the first out was recorded. Then, in the next at bat, the Explorers scored two, one on a sacrifice fly by Jay Baum and one on an error by the Right Fielder.

Kansas City scored one in the fourth and Sioux City scored one in the fifth on a RBI double by Baum.

The Explorers took what seemed to be a commanding lead in the eighth inning, scoring one on a RBI double by Daniel Jackson and two on a home run by Dylan Kelly. However, the T-Bones nearly came back with a five run bottom of the ninth, eventually leaving runners on second and third on a game ending double play.

James Dykstra was awarded the win, giving up three earned on five hits while walking three and striking out three in six innings of work.

Eric Karch was awarded the save.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 7, St. Paul 1- Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks homered four times in a 7-1 victory of the St. Paul Saints on Wednesday.

It didn’t take long for the RedHawks to strike. Brennan Metzger opened the game with a double and scored in the next at bat when Maikol Gonzalez homered. Three batters later, Leobaldo Pina hit added a solo home run. Tim Colwell also picked up an RBI in the, driving in Tommy Mendonca who reached on a double in the previous at bat.

Gonzalez, who is now batting .326 on the year, picked up an RBI single in the next inning to make it a 5-0 game. The Sains scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh when RedHawks starter Sebastian Kessay walked JJ Gould with the bases loaded.

Kessay allowed just five hits while walking two and striking out six in the win.

In the top of the eighth, Tommy Mendonca hit a solo home run and Yhoxian Medina scored on an error to bring the game to its final tally.

 

Gary SouthShore 12, Winnipeg 11- Box Score

The Gary SouthShore Railcats defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 12-11 in eleven innings on Wednesday.

The Railcats collected 21 hits in a game that they scored six in the top of the ninth to get an 11-5 lead.

The Goldeyes overcame the huge lead by scoring six of their own in the bottom of the ninth.

In the top of the tenth, KD Carey scored what proved to be the game winning run on a double by Wilfredo Giminez.

Every Gary SouthShore batter collected a hit, Andy Paz had the most, going 4-5 with three RBIs.

Keaton Steele was awarded the win and Adam Quintana was awarded the save.  

 

Wichita 6, Cleburne 3- Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts rallied in the ninth inning to defeat the Cleburne Railroaders 6-3 on Wednesday.

The Wingnuts took 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, scoring one on an error and one on a groundout by Fernando Perez.

The Railroaders cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the fourth before taking a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single by Blake Grant-Parks. The Wingnuts would answer in the very next frame.

Abel Nieves led-off the inning with a single and scored on the next at bat, a double by Perez. Perez was then moved over to third on a groundout. Cleburne proceeded to load the bases by hitting two Wichita batters and score a run by walking the following batter to give the Wingnuts a 4-3 lead. Ultimately, Logan Watkins would produce a two-run single to bring the game to its final score.

 

Lincoln 12, Texas 5- Box Score

Every Lincoln Saltdogs batter reached base in a 12-5 win over the Texas AirHogs on Wednesday.

Every Saltdogs hitter collected a hit except for Chase Simpson who walked. Curt Smith led the way, going 3-5 with three RBIs.

Lincoln was on cruise control after scoring two in the first, three in the second and six in the third to take an 11-0 lead.

Derek Gordon would hold the lead and earn the win for the Saltdogs, allowing five runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five in 6.1 innings of work.

Stewart Ijames paced the AirHogs, going 2-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a triple and a home run.
