MORRISON ADDS THREE RBIS IN WIN OVER RAILROADERS

Sioux Falls 4, Cleburne 2 – Box

The Canaries took down the Railroaders on Saturday, thanks to a big three-run first inning that provided all the scoring they would need. DH Jabari Henry opened the game for the Canaries with a lead-off homer, and then LF Ty Morrison hit a two-run single to extend the lead to 3-0. Cleburne scored a run each in the third and fourth innings, but those two runs were the only ones they could muster on the day, as the Canaries won 4-2. RHP Miles Nordgren was solid in the victory, pitching six innings, allowing two runs on eight hits, and striking out none. Morrison had the big day for the Canaries, as he finished 2-4 with a run scored and three RBIs. RHP Jose Ortega earned the save, pitching a scoreless ninth, allowing a hit and striking out a batter. 1B Geraldo Valentin picked up an RBI in the loss, as he finished 1-4.

Lincoln 10, Salina 5 – Box

The Saltdogs scored seven runs in the first three innings en route to a 10-5 victory over the Stockade on Saturday. RF Randolph Oduber had a big day in the victory, hitting a second-inning home run, his fifth long shot of the season. He was joined by 1B Trever Adams, who hit a solo shot in the third, his third homer of the campaign. The Stockade managed only two runs through the first six innings, but they cut the deficit to 10-5 in the seventh on a two-run double by DH Jesse Baker. Baker scored on a single two plays later to make it 10-5, but the Stockade was unable to add any more runs as they lost 10-5. Oduber finished the day with three hits and two runs scored in the victory. LHP Bennett Parry was strong in the victory, going six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out four batters.

Wichita 4, Texas 3 – Box

The Wingnuts defeated the Airhogs on Saturday, thanks to three runs scored in the sixth and seventh innings. The Wingnuts were down 3-2 entering the seventh when they executed a double-steal and scored a run on a wild pitch. That same at bat, DH Brent Clevlen knocked in another run with a RBI single, giving them the 4-3 lead en route to the victory. C Martin Medina added three hits and two RBIs in the win. C Michael Miller had a very good game in the loss, hitting his first homer of the season, and adding two other hits for the Airhogs. RHP Ryan Kussmaul earned the victory, pitching six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out five. RHP Mike Devine earned the save in the win.

Winnipeg 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 – Box

The Goldeyes scored two runs in the first and third innings, as they defeated the Redhawks in a close affair, 4-3. The first run came by way of an error, and a batter later, CF Reggie Abercrombie hit a sacrifice fly, as he finished the day with two RBIs in the win. Abercrombie also hit a RBI double in the third inning to put the Goldeyes up 3-1. 3B Josh Mazzola hit a solo homer in the seventh, one of his three hits on the day in the loss for the Redhawks. RHP Jose Almarante was tough in the loss, posting a complete game, allowing four runs (two earned) while striking out ten. LHP Zack Dodson allowed three runs on ten hits in 7.1 innings to earn the victory, as RHP Victor Capellan picked up his second save.

Sioux City 7, Gary 0 – Box

This contest was never much in doubt, as the Explorers scored in the first, fourth, eighth, and ninth innings en route to a 7-0 shutout victory. The big inning came in the ninth, as the Explorers added four runs. The big play of the inning came on a RBI single from LF LeVon Washington who also homered on the day. DH Tyler Ogle picked up two RBIs in the win, homering on the day as well. The Railcats only mustered four hits against the Explorers pitching staff, which struck out nine in the win. RHP Brad Orosey earned the victory, going 2.2 scoreless innings and striking out four.

Kansas City 8, St Paul 5 – Box

The T-Bones used a four-run fifth inning to stop the Saints on Saturday night, defeating them 8-5. The big play came off the bat of DH Zach Walters, who hit a three-run homer to put his team up 7-2. Walters had a very good day, finishing 2-4 from the plate with four RBIs. He was followed by LF Joe Jackson, who hit a solo shot to make it 8-2. The Saints responded with a run in the sixth, and two more runs in the ninth, but they never got the game any closer as they went on to lose 8-5. RHP Calvin Drummond picked up the win, his first of the season, pitching six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, and striking out two while walking four batters.
