Cleburne Railroaders outfielder Steven Rivas and Kane County Cougars starter Vin Timpanelli won the American Association’s Carbliss batter and pitcher of the week for the week ending 6/1, the league announced Monday.
It’s the second set of Railroaders and Cougars honored this week after Cleburne infielder Kyle Martin and Cougars starter Konnor Ash were awarded the Rawlings batter and pitcher of the month for May on Sunday.
Rivas was a big time run producer this week, driving in 10 with 10 hits including two homers and five doubles. He also walked four times and scored seven runs.
Thursday in Sioux Falls was the highlight of the week for Rivas, driving in four with a three-run home run and an RBI-single in a 13-5 win for Cleburne.
Rivas is a newcomer to the league after spending the last three seasons in the Los Angeles Angels organization.
On the pitching side, Timpanelli shined in both the starting rotation and the bullpen.
The right-hander got two victories: the first by throwing an inning and a third in relief against Winnipeg and the second by pitching seven scoreless frames with seven strikeouts against Lincoln on Sunday.
Those were his first two wins of the season and his ERA is down to 3.66 across seven games and two starts.
It’s year two for Timpanelli with the reigning champions after a solid year of relief in 2024, totaling 15 appearances with a 2.70 ERA. He previously played in the Cincinnati Reds organization.
Carbliss is the founding partner of the American Association.
