MONGER HITS WALK-OFF HOME RUN FOR CLEBURNE

Cleburne 14, Kansas City 13 – Box Score

The Cleburne RailRoaders walked off on the Kansas City T-Bones 14-13 after a wild, high-scoring affair Saturday night at The Depot.

On a night where the two teams combined for 27 runs and 29 hits, it was one swing of the bat that made the difference. The game was tied at 13-13 heading into the final inning but with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, LF Cameron Monger smashed his fourth home run of the season, and his second of the night, to give the Railroaders a walk-off win.

1B Levi Scott, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI also homered twice in the game for Cleburne. For Kansas City, C Adrian Nieto went 3-for-4 with four RBI and SS Taylor Featherson also added three hits.

 

Winnipeg 5, St. Paul 1 – Box Score

A four-run sixth inning made the difference as the Winnipeg Goldeyes took care of the St. Paul Saints 5-1.

RF Josh Romanski (2-for-4) gave the Goldeyes the early lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. The Saints tied the score in the top of the fifth inning as C Aaron Gretz singled home DH Justin O’Conner but in the sixth, the Goldeyes flipped the game on its head.

DH Grant Heyman doubled in the first runs of the sixth inning rally, scoring CF Reggie Abercrombie (2-for-4) and 1B Eric Aguilera in the process. In the next at-bat, C Kevin Garcia singled to center to plate 3B Josh Mazzola and Heyman to push the lead to the final margin.

 

Sioux City 13, Wichita 9 – Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers became the first team in the American Association to reach 30 wins as they outlasted the Wichita Wingnuts 13-9 on Friday night.

Sioux City saw eight different batters record at least one hit and six of them had multi-hit games as they tallied 15 base knocks on the night. RF Michael Lang led the way as he went 3-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs scored including his fourth home run of the year. SS Nate Samson (2-for-4) and 2B Jay Baum (2-for-5) also hit their fourth home runs of the season in the game. 3B Jose Sermo went 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Explorers.

For the Wingnuts, 2B Logan Watkins went 3-for-5 with three RBI and RF Hunter Clanin was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

 

 

Sioux Falls 6, Texas 3 – Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries picked up a 6-3 win against the Texas AirHogs thanks to a pair of strong offensive innings.

Most of the night’s action went down in the fifth inning. In the top of the frame, CF Dan Motl (2-for-4) singled in the first run as he plated 3B Jordan Dean. Later in the inning, Motl scored when SS Blake Schmit (2-for-4) singled and in the next at-bat, RF Jabari Henry singled home both Schmit and 2B Mitch Glasser. In the bottom of the inning, 2B Casio Grider (3-for-4) hit a three-run home run to pull his team back within a run.

But those would be the only runs of the game for the AirHogs and the Canaries added two more in the top of the ninth as Motl singled to score C Maxx Garrett and then scored himself as Schmit singled.

 

Lincoln 8, Gary SouthShore 2 – Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs jumped out to a strong start and made that hold up for an 8-2 win against the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

DH Curt Smith (3-for-3) opening things up with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. The RailCats drew one back in the second as DH Colin Willis (2-for-4) scored on a sac fly from 1B Alex Crosby but Lincoln added two more in the bottom of the second on a RF Randolph Oduber (2-for-5) single. Oduber added another in the fourth with an RBI single and Smith also tacked on one more with a solo home run in the fifth.

Willis doubled home 3B Randy Santiesteban (2-for-4) in the top of the sixth for the final Saltdog run of the game but the Saltdogs added a run in the seventh and eighth to put the game away.

 

Chicago 7, Fargo-Moorhead 1 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs dropped the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 7-1 thanks to the efforts of starting pitcher Kylin Turnbull.

Turnbull threw a complete game for the Dogs (12-27), needing just 105 pitches to finish off the evening. Turnbull (2-4) allowed just one run on four hits and one walk while he struck out four batters. Offensively, the Dogs racked up 12 hits including two-hit performances from three different batters.

All nine batters had at least one hit but 2B Edwin Arroyo, 1B Trey Vavra and CF Tony Rosselli each had two-hit games. RF Jonathan Moroney went 1-for-3 and scored three times. For the RedHawks, RF Tim Colwell had two of his team’s four hits.
