MARTIN’S BLAST LIFTS GOLDEYES TO VICTORY

Winnipeg 5, Kansas City 4 – Box Score

First baseman Kyle Martin blasted a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to give Winnipeg a 5-4 lead and the Goldeyes would go on to win by that same score. With the victory, Winnipeg took two out of three in the series.

Martin had a tremendous game at the plate going 3-for-4 with two home runs and driving in all five of Goldeyes’ runs. Winnipeg SS Wes Darvill scored a pair of runs while 2B Alex Perez collected two hits in four at-bats. In total, the Goldeyes had seven hits in the contest.

Winnipeg pitcher Justin Kamplain tossed two scoreless innings of relief and grabbed the victory. The southpaw gave up no hits and three walks to go with two strikeouts. Kamplain is now 1-0 on the year.

Left fielder Casey Gillaspie had a 1-for-3 day with an RBI in the loss for the T-Bones.

 

Milwaukee 9, Cleburne 3 – Box Score

Milwaukee jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 3 ½ innings of play and would cruise from there to beat Cleburne, 9-3.

The Milkmen collected 11 hits as a team with three batters picking-up at least two. Milwaukee CF Adam Walker led the way going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Milkmen C Manuel Boscan had a 1-for-4 day, including a blast of his own, along with two runs and two RBIs while 1B Glen McClain added a run and an RBI in a 2-for-4 day. In total, Milwaukee launched three home runs in the game.

Milkmen starting pitcher Jordan Kraus threw seven strong innings and notched his fourth win of the season. Kraus gave up two earned runs on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

For the Railroaders in defeat, 3B Chase Simpson went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
