LINCOLN PUSHES PAST JOPLIN WITH 3-RUN NINTH

Lincoln 5, Joplin 4 — Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to overtake the Joplin Blasters 5-3.

In the top of the ninth, the Saltdogs were trailing 4-2, but a single from 3B Luis Alen scored LF Brandon Jacobs to draw within one run. In the next at-bat, RF Jon Smith doubled to plate both 1B Curt Smith and PR Austin Darby and give his team a one-run lead. Reliever Ed Reed came on to pitch the bottom of the ninth and sealed the win, picking up a save in the process.

For the game, Alen and Smith each had three hits, while four different Blasters had two-hits apiece – including C Connor Sullivan and CF K.C. Huth who added RBI.

 

Laredo 8, Texas 3 — Box Score

The Laredo Lemurs scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal an 8-3 win against the Texas AirHogs.

The score was tied at 3-3 heading into the eighth inning before DH Brennan Metzger broke that tie with a two-RBI triple. Metzger scored later in the inning when 2B Jimmy Norris singled to give the Lemurs a three-run lead 3B Abel Nieves and Norris scored when 1B Jesus Posso and OF Burt Reynolds added back-to-back RBI singles.

For the game, Posso had a team-high three hits as did CF Kenny Peoples-Wallis for the AirHogs.

 

Sioux Falls at Gary SouthShore – Postponed/Rain

The game between the Sioux Falls Canaries and the Gary SouthShore RailCats was postponed due to rain. The contest will be made up on Tuesday, August 16, as a part of a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Central Time.

 

St. Paul at Winnipeg – Postponed/Rain

The game between the St. Paul Saints and the Winnipeg Goldeyes was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on Tuesday, August 16, as a part of a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Central Time.
