Laredo 3, Amarillo 1 Game 1/7 InningsBox Score

The Laredo Lemurs scored three runs in the fifth inning to claim the pitchers’ duel that was the first game of a double header with the Amarillo Sox 3-1

Both starting pitchers went the distance in the seven inning game Jeremy Strawn came out with the win for his seven innings worth of work in which he allowed one run on seven hits. Sox starter Anthony Figliolia gave up three runs – all in the fifth inning – on three hits in the losing effort.  The Lemurs took control of the game when a pair of runs scored on two errors in the bottom of the fifth inning and then 3B/LF Harrison Kain scored on a sacrifice fly.

No batter had more than one hit in the game and for the Sox CF Jason Martin had the game’s only RBI.

 

Laredo 2, Amarillo 0 Game 2/7 InningsBox Score

The Laredo Lemurs blanked the Amarillo Sox 2-0 in the second game of their doubleheader to sweep the evening.

The Lemurs scored the only runs of the game in the second inning when LF J.P. Ramirez hit a two-run home run. The Laredo pitching staff took care of the rest as starting pitcher Michael Suk tossed six innings of shutout baseball while allowing just three hits. Reliever Chad Povich earned the save as he worked the seventh inning and finished off the shutout.

Offensively, CF Nick Van Stratten and DH Byron Wiley each had two hits for the Lemurs. Five different Sox had one hit in the game.

 

Wichita 10, Grand Prairie 2 Game 1/7 InningsBox Score

The Wichita Wingnuts turned 11 hits into 10 runs and took care of the Grand Prairie AirHogs 10-2 in the first game of their Monday doubleheader.

Wichita scored in the top of the first inning but the AirHogs answered in the second to tie the score. The Wingnuts took the lead for good with a run in the third and then they added eight more runs in the fifth through seventh innings to put the game out of reach. Wichita’s DH Carlo Testa had a game-high four hits in four at bats and was one of four Wingnuts to have two RBI. 3B Chris McClendon also had two RBI and went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

For the AirHogs, DH Brian Myrow had a team-high two hits. On the mound, starting pitcher Anthony Capra was tabbed as the winner as he went six innings and allowed two runs on four hits.

 

Wichita 1, Grand Prairie 0 Game 2/7 Innings — Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts scored the game’s only run in the top of the sixth when DH Victor Diaz singled home SS Ryan Khoury and they held on to top the Grand Prairie AirHogs 1-0.

The Wingnuts had just six hits in the game – two from 1B David Espinosa – and the AirHogs had only four. Reliever Chris Peacock picked up the win as he worked a perfect fifth inning and reliever Dan Sattler earned the save as he worked the seventh while preserving the shutout. Grand Prairie’s Jared Graynor went 5.1 innings and allowed just one run on five hits in the losing effort.

For the AirHogs, C Ryan Gasporra had two of the team’s four hits.
