Fargo-Moorhead 4, Gary SouthShore 3 – Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks topped the Gary SouthShore RailCats 4-3 thanks to an eighth inning two-run home run from 2B T.J. Bennett.
The RailCats had just taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth as 2B Thomas Walraven (2-for-3) singled home both 1B Alex Crosby (2-for-4) and DH Will Savage. In the bottom half, 3B Leobaldo Pina reached base after bouncing into a fielder’s choice and Bennett came to the plate in the next at-bat and turned on a 2-0 delivery to push the RedHawks out in front for good.
CF Devan Ahart and 1B Correlle Prime, who homered in the fifth, each had a pair of hits.
Milwaukee 4, Lincoln 2 – Box Score
The Milwaukee Milkmen (14-16) tallied a pair of runs in back-to-back innings and that proved to be enough to tame the Lincoln Saltdogs 4-2.
Lincoln scored the game’s opening run in the third when 3B Christian Ibarra scored on RF Randolph Oduber’s fielder’s choice. But the Milkmen took the lead in the top of the fourth with a two-run home run from 2B Garrett Copeland (2-for-4). In the fifth, CF Cesar Valera scored on a wild pitch and 3B Jose Rosario plated DH Teodoro Martinez (2-for-4) with a single to take a 4-1 lead.
Lincoln’s 1B Cody Regis doubled home DH Curt Smith in the bottom of the frame but that would be the final run of the day for either team.
Kansas City 4, Sioux City 3 (Game 2/7 Innings) – Box Score
The Kansas City T-Bones (15-15) bounced back from game one of their doubleheader with the Sioux City Explorers to claim a 4-3 walk-off win in game two.
The Explorers struck first, scoring all three of their runs in the top of the first inning. SS Nate Samson and LF Adam Sasser (2-for-3) hit back-to-back RBI base hits and 2B Drew Stankiewicz followed with a sac fly to center to score Samson. The T-Bones rallied to tie the score in the fifth with RBI base knocks from RF Ramsey Romano (2-for-3) and CF Danny Mars; Mars scored the tying run on an error later in the frame.
2B Dylan Tice plated the winning run with a single in the bottom of the seventh that plated LF Ryan Brett.
T-Bones starting pitcher Jonathan Perrin went the distance and struck out 10 batters in the win.
Chicago 8, Winnipeg 3 – Box Score
The Chicago Dogs (17-11) turned seven hits into eight runs on the way to an 8-3 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
The scoring opened in the fourth inning when DH Kelly Dugan (3-for-4) tripled home 3B Trey Vavra (2-for-4) and then scored himself on a sac fly from SS Jordan Dean. SS Wes Darvill (2-for-4) doubled to plate CF Reggie Abercrombie in the bottom of the fourth, LF Tony Rosselli added a two-run home run for the Dogs in the top of the seventh to push the lead to 4-2. Chicago put the game away in the eighth with four more runs, including RBI base hits from Dugan and RF Victor Roache.
For the Goldeyes, DH James Harris and 3B Dominic Ficociello each had a pair of hits.
St. Paul 14, Sioux Falls 3 – Box Score
The St. Paul Saints tacked on eight runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull away from the Sioux Falls Canaries 14-3.
The Saints racked up 16 hits in the game and eight different players had at least one hit. Five of them had multi-hit games including RF Max Murphy, who went 4-for-6 with four RBIs and four runs scored. Murphy capped the ninth-inning rally with a three-run home run. CF Dan Motl added a 3-for-6 performance with three runs scored and DH Brady Shoemaker, C Jeremy Martinez and 2B Josh Allen each added a pair of hits.
For the Canaries, CF Brett Vertigan went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and 1B Jordan Ebert also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Texas 7, Cleburne 5 (Suspended/6th Inning)
The game between the Texas AirHogs and the Cleburne Railroaders was suspended due to rain. The game was halted in the bottom of the sixth inning. It will resume tomorrow, Thursday June, 21, at 5:00 p.m. Central Time with the regularly scheduled game to follow.
