Kansas City 10, St Paul 5 – Box

There was not much time to relax, as both teams scored multiple runs in the first inning. The T-Bones took a 3-0 lead in the top of the inning on a three-run homer from DH Kevin Keyes. The Saints answered with a solo shot from RF Danny Oh as well as a RBI single from 2B Tony Thomas. With the score 4-2 in the fifth inning, the T-Bones added three more insurance runs including a solo homer from 2B Zach Walters. The Saints scored three more runs, but the T-Bones clamped down and won the game 10-5. Keyes finished the game with two homers and Walters was 1-5 with a homer and two runs scored. RHP Gabe Perez picked up the victory, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, and striking out eight for his first win of the season.

Cleburne 4, Lincoln 1 – Box

The Railroaders were busy early on, scoring four runs in the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead over the Saltdogs. RF Mitch Glasser got things started with a solo homer in the first. LF Devan Avart added to the lead with a RBI single in the third. A batter later, 1B Geraldo Valentin hit a two-run double for his eighth and ninth RBIs of the season. The Saltdogs got a run back in the eighth on a solo homer from CF Randolph Oduber, but they were unable to pierce the lead any further as the Railroaders won 4-1. Glasser was the player of the game, going 4-5 with two runs scored and a RBI. RHP Josh Hodges picked up the win, throwing seven innings of one-run ball in the victory, striking out four in the process. RHP Winston Abreu earned the save.

Sioux City 5, Sioux Falls 2 – Box 

Both teams remained tied at zero until the fifth inning, when the clubs exchanged runs. The Canaries opened the scoring up with a RBI single from CF Dan Motl. The Explorers countered with a RBI single from 2B Nick Flair, scoring DH LeVon Washington, who led off the inning with a triple. The teams exchanged runs in the sixth before a three-run eighth propelled the Explorers to a 5-2 lead, which they would hold on to for the win. 1B John Nogowski was the hero, with the go-ahead three-run homer. RHP Kevin McCanna earned the victory with a scoreless eighth inning. RHP PJ Francescon picked up his third save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth while striking out one. 1B Chris Jacobs was 1-3 and homered in the loss. Nogowski and RF Michael Lang each contributed two hits in the winning effort.

Winnipeg 3, Wichita 2 (10 innings) Box

Neither team scored until the seventh inning when the Goldeyes took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the inning on a sacrifice fly from LF Josh Romanski. The Wingnuts took the lead in the bottom half of the inning, thanks to a RBI double from 1B Matt Chavez and a RBI forceout. The Goldeyes tied the game in the eighth inning and then won the game in extras, 3-2, thanks to a go-ahead solo shot from DH David Bergin. Chavez finished the game with two hits, both doubles. Bergin finished the game 1-5, hitting his first homer of the season in the victory. LHP Mitchell Lambson picked up the win in relief, pitching two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. RHP Ryan Chaffee earned his fourth save of the season with a scoreless tenth.

Texas 4, Gary 2 (10 innings) Box

The AirHogs scored the first run of the game in an interesting fashion in the third inning, as 3B Ryne Willard singled, then scored on the play due to an error. The AirHogs added another run in the sixth on an error, before the SouthShore Railcats stormed back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning. The game remained tied in the ninth and headed to extras 2-2. In the top of the tenth, the AirHogs took a commanding 4-2 lead on a two-run double from SS Brandon Weems. The pitching did the rest from there, as the staff only gave up two hits on the night, led by starter RHP Carlos Contreras who allowed one hit in 5.1 innings, also giving up two runs and striking out six. RHP Luis De La Cruz held the Railcats scoreless in the bottom of the tenth to pick up the three-out save. C Jaime Del Valle was 1-3 in the loss.
