CHARLIE ROSARIO’S GEM LEADS GARY TO 1-0 VICTORY

Gary 1, Texas 0 – Box 

It was a pitcher’s duel on Saturday, as the RailCats got revenge over the AirHogs after Friday night’s defeat. The lone run was scored in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, CF Chase Harris stepped to the plate with two outs. He was hit by a pitch, giving RHP Charlie Rosario all the run support he needed. Rosario got the win, pitching seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out two. RHP Jorge De Leon picked up the three-out save for his first save of the season. RHP Scott Firth was also outstanding for the AirHogs, allowing one hit on one run in six innings while striking out nine. C Wilfredo Gimenez was 1-3 with a run scored in the win.

Lincoln 7, Cleburne 1 – Box

A four-run sixth inning propelled the Saltdogs to victory on Saturday. LF Brandon Jacobs got things started in the sixth with a two-run homer. Later in the inning, 3B Christian Ibarra knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly, and RF Randolph Oduber hit a RBI single one batter later. RHP Leuris Gomez got the win, pitching two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out one. Jacobs and 2B Cesar Valera each picked up two hits in the win. Ibarra finished the game 1-2 with a run scored and two RBIs. DH Shawn Zarraga picked up two hits and knocked in a run in the loss.

St Paul 10, Kansas City 3 – Box

The Saints won big thanks to a six-run third inning to topple the T-Bones. RF Danny Oh started the inning with a solo shot, his second long ball of the season. LF Anthony Gallas hit a triple with the bases loaded, scoring three runs on the play. C Tony Caldwell knocked in Gallas with a double and Caldwell scored on a RBI single by SS Jon Kristoffersen. The inning put the Saints up 7-0, and they went on to win 10-3. RHP Jason Creasy earned the victory, pitching five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, and striking out four. 3B Nate Hanson also homered in the victory, his second blast of the season.

Sioux City 8, Sioux Falls 2 – Box

The Explorers won their second game in a row against the Canaries on Saturday night. The Explorers were down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth but rallied with seven runs in the inning to give them a lead they would not relinquish. 3B Josh Vitters finished with a big day, hitting a home run and knocking in three runs in the win. CF Tony Campana finished 2-5 with two runs scored for the Explorers. RHP Kevin McCanna earned a victory for the second straight night, getting the final out in the eighth inning. RHP Kurt Heyer was very good in the win, pitching five scoreless innings and striking out six batters. 1B Curtis Jacobs picked up his seventh RBI of the season in the loss.

Winnipeg 8, Wichita 2 – Box

The Goldeyes scored all eight of their runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, as they went on to beat the Goldeyes 8-2 on Saturday. DH Mason Katz hit a two-run triple in the fifth and finished 2-4 on the day with two runs scored and two RBIs in the win. SS Andrew Sohn also picked up two hits in the win, scoring and knocking in a run. 3B Wes Darvill was 3-4 in the game to raise his average to .410 and also knocked in two runs. RF Richard Prigatano was 2-4 with two RBIs in the loss. LHP Zach Dodson earned the victory, pitching 7.1 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out ten batters.
