KANSAS CITY COMPLETES COMEBACK WITH WALKOFF

Kansas City 7, Gary SouthShore 6Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones walked off on the Gary SouthShore RailCats 7-6 on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The T-Bones were trailing by three runs going into the bottom of the ninth but T.J. Mittlestaedt quickly changed that. Mittlestaedt, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI in the game, hit a three-run blast to level the score. In the ninth, 1B David Espinosa scored the winning run when a delivery to DH Byron Wiley got past the catcher. Both Espinosa and Wiley went 2-for-5.

For the RailCats, SS Daniel Pulfer went 3-for-5 with an RBI and CF Drew Muren went 3-for-4 also with an RBI.

 

Sioux Falls 4, St. Paul 3Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries took the lead in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed on their to a 4-3 victory over the St. Paul Saints.

The Saints scored in the top of the first inning on a double from DH Henry Wrigley who went 2-for-4 on the night. The Canaries responded in the bottom of the frame as RF Steven Tinoco singled to start the inning and scored three batters later. 1B A.J. Kirby-Jones scored on an error and then 3B Carlos Mendez scored on a fielder’s choice to give Sioux Falls the lead which they would not relinquish.

Tinoco went 2-for-4 in the contest while Kirby-Jones had a team-high three hits in four at bats.

 

Lincoln 2, Wichita 0Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs rode a strong performance from starting pitcher Marquis Fleming on their way to a 2-0 victory over the Wichita Wingnuts on Sunday night.

Fleming went six innings and kept the Wingnuts scoreless while allowing just two hits and striking out six batters. Relievers Jhonny Montoya and Marshall Schuler finished off the shutout and Schuler picked up the save.   At the plate for the Saltdogs, CF Matt Forgatch had a team-high three hits.

RF Brian Joynt had both RBI for the Saltdogs – one in the first inning to score Forgatch and added another in the sixth.

 

Laredo 10, Grand Prairie 4Box Score

The Laredo Lemurs put up seven runs in the first inning and never looked back on their way to a 10-4 victory over the Grand Prairie AirHogs.

That seven-run rally was boosted by a triple from RF Harrison Kain that scored a pair of runs. Kain was one of seven batters to have a hit for the Lemurs in the game. CF Nick Van Stratten, the leadoff hitter, had a game-high three hits in four at bats and one RBI. SS Devin Goodwin added two RBI on two hits.

For the AirHogs, 2B Alex Nunez went 2-for-5 with an RBI and CF Eric Baker also had two hits.

 

Sioux City 17, Amarillo 8Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers routed the Amarillo Sox 17 -8 behind a 10-run surge in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Explorers racked up 17 hits from seven different batters in the contest. Leading the way was CF Tim Cromwell who went 5-for-6 with four RBI and four runs scored.  1B Rene Tosoni homered twice on the night and ended up 3-for-6 with five RBI and 2B Andres Perez went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI. C Todd Jennings added two RBI and three runs scored on two hits.

For the Sox, Kevin Mahoney, who played at both second and third base defensively, had three hits in five at bats and 1B Kyle Nichols had a team-high three RBI.

 

Fargo-Moorhead at Winnipeg (Postponed – Rain)

The game between the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and the Winnipeg Goldeyes has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Monday at Shaw Park beginning at 5 p.m.
