DURHAM, NC – The American Association announced today that Wichita Wingnuts LHP Ryan Hinson (pictured) has been named the Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for June. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.
Hinson hurled to the tune of a 5-1 record and a 1.41 ERA in the month of June. The Wingnuts’ southpaw led the league in both those categories, while striking out 32 and walking only 11. The Clemson University product also gave Wichita impressive distance in the starting role. He averaged 7.44 innings per start and pitched one seven-inning complete game against St. Paul on June 14. Hinson never surrendered more than two runs or more than seven hits in a single start in June.
In total, Hinson is tied for first in the American Association with six wins (6-2 record) during the 2013 season. He is also second in ERA (1.75) and strikeouts (52).
