DURHAM, NC – Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks RHP Tyler Herron (pictured) earned the title of Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for the month of June in the American Association. Herron was selected by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.
This month, Herron was nearly dominant on the hill going 4-1, posting a 1.08 ERA. On June 28, had his contract purchased by the New York Mets. Herron has the lowest ERA in the league at .80 and is currently 5-1. His best outing came on June 18 where he threw a complete game shutout to lead the RedHawks over the Wichita Wingnuts 8-0. In his most recent outing, on June 23, Herron tossed 7.1 innings, allowing just one earned run in a 10-1 victory against Sioux Falls.
In 2005, Herron was drafted 46th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals. The Melbourne, FL native also played in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals organizations. In 2014, he reached the AAA level with the Syracuse Chiefs.
