Amarillo 8, Grand Prairie 5

The Grand Prairie AirHogs tried to rally late but they couldn’t make up for a pair of three run innings by the Amarillo Sox and fell 8-5. C Chris Grossman (pictured) put the Sox out in front with a three-run homerun in the third inning. That was his only hit of the game but he also worked two hitless innings of relief on the mound and struck out three batters. It was his first appearance on the bump this season.

LF David Peralta homered in two runs in the fifth after RF Joe Weik singled in a run. The Sox were leading 6-0 after the fifth. The AirHogs scored all five of their runs in the last two innings but it was too little too late at the point in the ball game. Sox Starter Kristhiam Linares picked up the win for pitching five scoreless innings and scattering three hits.

 

Kansas City 6, Laredo 4

The Kansas City T-Bones took care of the Laredo Lemurs 6-4 behind a five-run fifth inning. The game was scoreless when the T-Bones came to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning. RF Ray Sadler got things started with his only hit of the game to lead off the inning. He scored two batters later on a single by C Steve Yoo – Yoo was 2-for-4 in the game.

Yoo scored on triple from CF Kennard Jones. DH Brandon Jones brought home two more runs with a single later in the inning to complete the rally. Jones’s two RBI led the team. Laredo’s SS Jimmy Mojica started a charge in the sixth when he scored on sacrifice fly. In the seventh he blasted a three-run homerun but the Lemurs wouldn’t score again.

 

Sioux City 5, Wichita 3

The Sioux City Explorers put together an eighth inning rally to take control of the game and beat the Wichita Wingnuts 5-3. Trailing Wichita 3-2 going into the bottom of the eighth inning and they loaded up the bases for DH Sam Judah. Judah delievered his only hit of the game in the form of a bases-clearing double, giving the Explorers a 5-3 lead.

1B Luke Murton and C Alberto Espinosa both had two hit games for the Explorers. For the Wingnuts, 2B Abel Nieves had a game-high three hits in four at bats. Both CF Brent Clevlen and C Cole Armstrong added homeruns for Sioux City. Reliever Jimmer Kennedy was tabbed as the winner for two innings of hitless work. Closer Chris Bodishbaugh picked up his eighth save of the season.

 

El Paso 12, Sioux Falls 10

The Sioux Falls Canaries jumped out to an early lead but the El Paso Diablos chipped away and came back to claim victory 12-10. The Diablos cut the lead to one with a five-run sixth inning but the Canaries were clinging to the lead heading into the eighth inning. Back-to-back doubles by DH Jonathan Cisneros and RF Brian Joynt in the eighth gave El Paso the lead. Cisneros was 2-for-5 with three RBI and Joynt was 4-for-5 with two RBI. 1B Murray Watts, 2-for-5 with two RBI, singled in another run in the eighth to give the Diablos the two run advantage.

Diablos 2B/3B Miguel Chacoa also had four hits in the game and scored two runs. For the Canaries, DH Tim Pahuta was 3-for-4 with two RBI and SS Cory Morales was 2-for-4 with two RBI. 3B Jared Clark had a team high three RBI including a two-run homerun.
