GOLDEYES SLIDE PAST SAINTS IN 11 INNINGS

Winnipeg 300x207

Winnipeg 9, St. Paul 8 (11 Innings) – Box Score

Nine innings weren’t enough to decide a winner between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the St. Paul Saints but the Goldeyes pulled out the win in the top of the 11th.

2B Tucker Nathans hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning that tied the game at 8-8 and the score was still knotted there after the ninth, forcing extras. After a scoreless 10th, the Goldeyes went to work in the top of the 11th. DH Dave Sappelt (2-for-5) hit a leadoff single and then took second on a wild pitch. After CF Reggie Abercrombie (4-for-6) was retired, Eric Aguilar singled to allow Sappelt to score.

Though the Saints had one hit in the bottom of the 11th, Sappelt’s run – his third of the game – held up and proved to be the game-winner.
