GOLDEYES SHUTOUT AIRHOGS

Winnipeg Script

Winnipeg 3, Texas 0 – Box

Winnipeg starting pitcher Mikey O’Brien and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Goldeyes defeated the Texas AirHogs, 3-0. O’Brien tossed the first seven innings of the contest allowing two hits and three walks with a strikeout in 90 pitches. The bullpen duo of Mitchell Lambson and Ryan Chaffee finished off the shutout as each threw an inning of work and gave up a total of two hits to go along with two strikeouts. O’Brien earned his third victory of the season and Chaffee notched his league leading eighth save. Offensively for Winnipeg, the Goldeyes scored two runs in the third off a CF Reggie Abercrombie home run and added another run in the fourth as 3B Wes Darvill scored on an error by Texas C Michael Miller.

Cleburne 8, Salina 1 – Box

Cleburne jumped out to a 7-0 lead after just two innings of play and would cruise from there to an 8-1 victory over Salina. The Railroaders had 12 hits in the contest with every batter in the lineup collecting at least one. Cleburne SS Maikol Gonzalez led the way at the plate going 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Railroaders leadoff hitter Mitch Glasser drew a pair of walks and scored twice in a 1-for-3 night while 3B Brandon Tierney added a double and a run scored. Cleburne starter Patrick Mincey tossed a complete game and improved his record to 4-0 on the year. Mincey gave up an earned run on seven hits with six strikeouts in 106 pitches.

Gary SouthShore 6, Sioux Falls 5 (11 Innings) – Box

Gary SouthShore 3B Randy Santiesteban scored 1B Alex Crosby on a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning as the RailCats defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries, 6-5. Sioux Falls had a 3-1 lead after five innings of action before Gary SouthShore plated four runs in the sixth to take the lead at 5-3. The Canaries added single runs in the sixth and the seventh to tie the contest at 5-5 and eventually force extra innings. Gary SouthShore 2B/SS John Holland went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI while C Wilfredo Gimenez added a pair of hits and scored a run. RailCats pitcher Jorge De Leon threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn his third win of the season. De Leon gave up two walks and struck out two in the eight batters faced. For Sioux Falls in the losing effort, leadoff hitter Jabari Henry had a 4-for-5 night with a home run and two RBI.

Kansas City at Wichita (Postponed – Rain)

The game between Kansas City and Wichita was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Monday, August 14 at 5:00 PM.
