St Paul 8-Winnipeg 5 – Box
The Saints won their third game in a row on Friday night, defeating the Goldeyes 8-5 to run their record to 18-9 on the year. The Saints broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring three runs to break open a 1-1 tie. C Maxx Garrett knocked in the first run of the inning with a double, and SS Tanner Vavra followed with a two-run single to make it a 4-1 game. The Goldeyes added two runs over the next two innings to make it a 4-3 game, but that was the closest they would come as they lost 8-5. Garrett was 3-5 in the win, finishing with two hits and two RBIs. RHP Dustin Crenshaw went 5.2 innings to earn his first victory of the year. RHP Seth Rosin picked up his fifth save in the win.
Sioux Falls 7, Cleburne 5 – Box
The Railroaders scored four runs in the first two innings on Friday night, but the Canaries countered with four runs in the third to tie the game, leading to a tense eighth inning. 3B BJ Guinn knocked in a RBI double to put the Canaries up 5-4 in the inning. Two batters later, RF Jabari Henry hit a huge two-run homer to give the Canaries a 7-4 lead. It was Henry’s third blast of the season. The Railroaders scored a run in the bottom half of the inning, but failed to do further damage as they fell 7-5. 1B Chris Jacobs also homered in the win, launching his eighth shot of the year. RHP Andrew Woeck won his second game of the year in relief, as he allowed a run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning of work. DH Shawn Zarraga collected two hits in the win, as he also knocked in two runs.
Wichita 12, Fargo-Moorhead 4 – Box
The Wingnuts won their 18th game of the season, as they scored ten runs in the first three innings to win 12-4 on Friday night. DH Brent Clevlen launched his second home run of the season in the first inning, as he finished the day with three hits and three RBIs. 1B Matt Chavez accumulated two hits, and knocked in two runs, including his league-leading 35th RBI of the year. CF Kes Carter hit his fifth homer of the season in the loss, and also knocked in two runs. RHP Ryan Kussmaul pitched six shutout innings in the victory to earn his third win of the year. He allowed three hits and struck out seven in the victory.
Kansas City 9, Salina 1 – Box
The T-Bones didn’t waste any time in getting off to a lead on Friday night, scoring two runs in the first inning en route to a 9-1 win over the Stockade. DH Chase McDonald started the scoring with a RBI single and LF Joe Jackson followed with another RBI single of his own to make it a 2-0 game. The T-Bones added five more runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and scored two runs in the eighth, as they won their 14th game of the year. McDonald finished the game 2-4 with a run and two RBIs, as he hit his fourth home run of the season. 1B Kevin Keyes drove in his 29th run in the victory. RHP Calvin Drummond dominated en route to his second win, going seven innings, allowing one run (no earned) on three hits, while striking out seven.
Gary 0-Lincoln 0 (Suspended – Bottom 5th)
The game between the Railcats and Saltdogs was suspended due to rain with the score tied at 0-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The game will be completed on Saturday, June 17 at 6:00 pm. The regularly scheduled game will follow the completion of the suspended game and will be seven innings in length.
Texas at Sioux City – Postponed
The game between the Airhogs and Explorers was postponed due to rain. The two clubs will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 6:05 pm at Lewis and Clark Park.
