Winnipeg 15, St. Paul 1 – Box Score

Winnipeg jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings of play and would cruise from there to a 15-1 victory over St. Paul.

The Goldeyes banged out 20 hits in the contest with seven batters contributing at least two hits. Winnipeg SS Wes Darvill had a terrific game going 5-for-6 with two home runs, three runs scored and two RBIs. Goldeyes 1B Kyle Martin had three hits in six at-bats along with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs while CF Reggie Abercrombie scored once and drove in two in a 3-for-5 night. In total, Winnipeg blasted six home runs in the game.

Goldeyes starter Kevin McGovern threw six shutout innings en route to the big victory. The southpaw gave up two walks and seven hits to go along with seven strikeouts in a 112-pitch performance. McGovern is now 8-3 on the year and is tied for first place in wins in the American Association.

 

Chicago 4, Sioux Falls 3 – Box Score

Chicago continues to stay red hot as they won their eighth consecutive game in a 4-3 decision over Sioux Falls. The Dogs scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning to overcome a 3-2 deficit and pick-up the victory.

There were 11 hits collected by Chicago with three batters having multi-hit games. Dogs RF Victor Roache went 2-for-4 with a home run while leadoff hitter David Olmedo-Barrera had a pair of hits in five at-bats, including a double. First baseman Trey Vavra and LF Tony Rosselli also helped the Chicago offense by launching solo home runs.

Dogs pitcher Rich Mascheri tossed two scoreless innings of relief and notched the victory. The lefty struck out three of the seven batters he faced and is now 3-1 on the season.

For Sioux Falls, LF Kevin Taylor had a 2-for-4 night with a three-run home run.

 

Sioux City 12, Milwaukee 1 – Box Score

It was all Sioux City in this contest as the Explorers rolled past Milwaukee by the score of 12-1. With the score 4-1 after six innings of play, Sioux City tallied eight runs over their final three trips to the plate to win going away.

The Explorers pounded out 14 hits in the contest with seven batters picking-up at least one. Sioux City 3B Jose Sermo led the way going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Explorers SS Nate Samson scored three runs and drove in one in a 2-for-5 night while 1B Dexture McCall and LF Sebastian Zawada each collected three RBIs.

Sioux City starting pitcher Eric Karch tossed a complete game and earned his first win of the season. Karch gave up an earned run on six hits and fanned three batters.

 

Gary SouthShore 7, Cleburne 0 – Box Score

Gary SouthShore starting pitcher Justin Sinibaldi and three relievers combined on a 10-hit shutout as the RailCats defeated Cleburne, 7-0.

Sinibaldi went the first five innings of the contest allowing a walk and six hits to go along with three strikeouts. The Nicholls State University product threw 92 pitches in his outing with 64 going for strikes.  The bullpen trio of Jack Alkire, Ryan Thurston and Felix Carvallo finished off the final four innings giving up a combined two walks and four hits while fanning five batters. Sinibaldi notched his second win of the season.

Offensively for Gary SouthShore, C Wilfredo Gimenez led the way at the plate going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. RailCats 2B Will Savage plated two runs in a 3-for-5 night while RF Colin Willis chipped in a double and two RBIs.

 

Texas 5, Kansas City 3 – Box Score

After falling behind 3-0 through two innings of action, Texas scored five runs over the next three to take control of the game and defeat Kansas City, 5-3.

The AirHogs contributed 10 hits in the contest and was led by 2B Luo Jinjun who went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Texas 1B Stewart Ijames had a three-hit night and drove in a run while LF Jonathan Moroney and SS Yang Jin each collected a pair of hits and scored a run.

AirHogs starter Erik Manoah allowed three earned runs over seven innings of work and grabbed the victory. The right hander allowed three walks and five hits to go with five strikeouts. With the win, Manoah is now 1-1 on the year.

For Kansas City in the losing effort, C Christian Carrera went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and DH Christopher Colabello had a pair of hits in three at-bats.
