Grand Prairie 1, Amarillo 0 (10 Innings)
Grand Prairie 3B Frazier Hall launches a solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the AirHogs a 1-0 walkoff win over the Amarillo Sox. The victory by Grand Prairie was their fourth straight. AirHogs starting pitcher Josh Strawn was sensational tonight as he went the distance giving up only four hits while striking out three batters. The 10 innings pitched by Strawn ties a league record for most innings pitched in a game with three other pitchers. The victory improves his record to 4-1 on the season. For Amarillo in the loss, LF David Peralta went 2-for-4.
Fargo-Moorhead 5, New Jersey 1
Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Brian Ernst tossed a sharp 6 1/3 innings in helping the RedHawks to a 5-1 win over the New Jersey Jackals. Ernst allowed only a first inning run on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Fargo-Moorhead 2B CJ Retherford went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and a RBI and 1B Keith Brachold had two hits in four at-bats with a run scored and a run driven in. For New Jersey in the loss, CF Chris Curran, RF Bryan Sabatella and DH Nick Giarraputo each had two hits.
Wichita 5, Sioux City 3
The Wichita Wingnuts continue to play good baseball as they picked up another win by beating the Sioux City Explorers, 5-3. Wichita now has a 22-12 record which is the best in the American Association. The 7-8-9 hitters of 3B Abel Nieves, RF David Amberson and LF Jared McDonald paced the Wingnuts offense combining to go 5-for-12 at the plate with three runs scored and a run batted in. Wichita 2B Jake Kahaulelio chipped in with his eighth home run of the season. Wingnuts starting pitcher Justin Klipp notched the win as he tossed six innings giving up an earned run on seven hits with three strikeouts.
Gary SouthShore 10, St. Paul 4
The Gary SouthShore RailCats scored six runs in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie and defeat the St. Paul Saints by a 10-4 final. Gary SouthShore DH Adam Klein went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored while LF Drew Martinez had three hits with two runs scored and a RBI. Three other RailCats had two hits including C Ryan Babineau who went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Gary SouthShore reliever Boomer Potts picked up the win as threw 1 1/3 innings giving up only a hit. St. Paul 3B Joey Becker was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and three runs scored.
El Paso 9, Sioux Falls 6
The El Paso Diablos plated a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 6-6 tie and would go on to win by the score of 9-6 over the Sioux Falls Canaries. El Paso banged out 16 hits tonight and everyone in their lineup had at least one. Diablos SS Maikol Gonzalez had a monster game offensively going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI. El Paso LF Brian Joynt chipped in with two hits, a run scored and two RBI. Diablos reliever Marshall Schuler collected the victory as he threw 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits while striking out one batter.
Lincoln at Winnipeg (Postponed –Rain)
The game between Lincoln and Winnipeg was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, June 21 beginning at 6:00 pm.
