John Allen already owns much of the American Association record book for offensive feats, and he had hoped to notch one more important milestone in front of Laredo,TX fans only to take an 0-for-3 Wednesday night and head out for a six-game road trip with his division-leading Lemurs teammates.

The 31-year-old outfielder, who played in Fort Worth for a good portion of his career until the Lemurs joined the American Association last season, has moved into a tie with Brian Fryer for the all-time hit record of 670, including 42 this season which have led him to a .328 batting average.

“Hits are always a blessing and records are pretty cool, too,” Allen told The Laredo Morning Times.  “It would be great to do it (hits record) at home.”

A native of Wichita Falls, TX, Allen also needs five runs to claim that record at 343 from Albenis Machado and he owns the marks for RBI (417), home runs (80) and doubles (151).  Laredo opens a weekend series in Kansas City, KS Friday.
