MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Sioux Falls Canaries’ RHP Taylor Hill has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 30, 2019.

Hill (5-1) earned the award after allowing just three runs in 14 innings of work this past week, fanning 14 batters in the process. In his first start, the veteran righty didn’t factor in the decision of a 5-2 loss to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on June 24 despite striking out six, walking one and allowing just two runs over seven innings. Hill’s second start of the week was even better as he earned the win in a 2-1 victory over the Milwaukee Milkmen on June 29, fanning eight, walking zero, and allowing one run in the process.

The former major leaguer began his professional career in 2011 after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals. Hill spent four seasons climbing the ranks in the Nationals’ organization before debuting at the game’s highest level in 2014, throwing nine innings across two relief appearances and one start. Hill made six more relief appearances with the Nationals in 2015, posting a 3.75 ERA in 12 innings of work. With Sioux Falls in 2019, Hill is 5-1 with a 2.53 ERA and 38 strikeouts across 49.2 innings pitched.
