FLORES SAC FLY IN THE TENTH LIFTS AIRHOGS PAST T-BONES

Grand Prairie 5, Kansas City 4 (10 Innings)Box

Catcher Angel Flores’ (pictured) sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning brought home DH Andres Rodriguez with the game winning run as the Grand Prairie AirHogs beat the Kansas City T-Bones, 5-4. Kansas City had a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning only to see Grand Prairie plate a run and tie it at 2-2 headed to the ninth. The T-Bones scored two runs in the top of the ninth to go ahead 4-2 but could not hold the lead as Flores launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame to send the game into extra innings. Flores had a 2-for-3 night and drove in three runs. Grand Prairie reliever Patrick Mincey was the winner as he threw two innings and struck out four batters.

St. Paul 2, Trois-Rivieres 0 (Game 1 – 7 Innings)Box

Starting pitcher Luke Anderson and reliever Matt Meyer combined on a five-hit shutout as the St. Paul Saints blanked the Trois-Rivieres Aigles by the score of 2-0 in game one of a doubleheader. Anderson picked up his first victory of the season as he tossed 6 1/3 innings giving up the five hits while striking out three batters. Meyer collected the final two outs and notched his second save of the season. The Saints scored both of their runs in the second inning on a two-run home run by RF Brandon Tripp. Tripp finished 1-for-3 in the game.

St. Paul 2, Trois-Rivieres 1 (Game 2 – 7 Innings)Box

Second baseman Brad Boyer doubled home SS Adam Frost with the go ahead run in the sixth inning as St. Paul wins game two of a doubleheader by the score of 2-1 and sweeps the twinbill from Trois-Rivieres. Frost scored both of the Saints’ runs in the game in a 1-for-3 effort. St. Paul starting pitcher Anthony Claggett was terrific in picking up the win. Claggett went six innings and allowed one run on four hits and struck out three hitters.

Fargo-Moorhead 2, Sioux Falls 0 (Game 1 – 7 Innings)Box

Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Jake Laber was simply terrific on the mound as the RedHawks beat the Sioux Falls Canaries by a 2-0 final in game one of a doubleheader. Laber went six innings and gave up only a walk and two hits while fanning two batters. He evened his record at 1-1 on the season with the victory. Fargo-Moorhead reliever Chase Johnson tossed a scoreless seventh to pickup his second save and complete the shutout. The RedHawks scored both of their runs in the sixth inning on a double by RF Tim Alberts and a sacrifice fly by C Todd Jennings.

Sioux Falls 9, Fargo-Moorhead 8 (Game 2 – 7 Innings)Box

After Fargo-Moorhead pulled within a run at 4-3 after the third inning, Sioux Falls scored five big runs in the fourth to take a 9-3 lead and would hold on late to win game two 9-8 and split a doubleheader. Canaries LF JP Ramirez had a monster game going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI. Sioux Falls 1B Jared Clark chipped in with two hits, a run scored and three runs driven in. Canaries reliever Kyle Vazquez notched the victory after going 3 1/3 innings and allowing three earned runs on four hits.
