Sioux Falls 11, Texas 7 – Box

The Sioux Falls Canaries scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to erase a 7-6 deficit and beat the Texas AirHogs by the score of 11-7. Sioux Falls pounded out 15 hits in the contest with five players having multi-hit games. Canaries DH Burt Reynolds went a perfect 5-for-5 at the dish with a home run, three runs scored and a RBI while leadoff hitter Dan Motl added a pair of hits, including a triple, and four RBI. Sioux Falls RF Jabari Henry also contributed a two-run home run, his 18th of the season. Canaries reliever Nicco Blank recorded the final two outs in the eighth inning off a double play and notched his second victory.

For Texas in the losing effort, RF Denis Phipps went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.

St. Paul 7, Fargo-Moorhead 2 – Box

St. Paul tallied six runs over the first four innings of the contest and rolled to a 7-2 win over Fargo-Moorhead. The Saints collected 14 hits as a team and was led by leadoff hitter Tim Colwell who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. St. Paul CF Kes Carter added a pair of hits in five at-bats with two runs batted in while 3B Nate Hanson and DH Anthony Gallas had a combined 5-for-7 night at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI. Saints starting pitcher Mark Hamburger continued his strong 2017 campaign as he picked up his league leading 12th win of the year. Hamburger went the distance giving up two earned runs on eight hits and striking out four batters.

Sioux City 6, Wichita 4 – Box

After Wichita jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a 1B Matt Chavez grand slam, Sioux City took control as they tallied all six of their runs in the next four innings and rolled to a 6-4 win.  The Explorers received contributions from up and down their batting order as eight of the nine hitters collected at least a hit. Sioux City CF Tony Campana went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while DH Tyler Ogle and LF LeVon Washington each launched a home run. Explorers starter Justin Vernia allowed four earned runs over six innings pitched and picked up the win in his first outing of the season. Vernia allowed five hits and five walks to go along with two strikeouts.

Cleburne 14, Salina 5 (7 Innings) – Box

It was all Cleburne in this rain shortened game as they rolled out to a 5-1 advantage through one inning of play and cruised to a 14-5 win over Salina. The Railroaders had 12 hits in the contest with four players having multi-hit games. Cleburne leadoff hitter Maikol Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI while 1B Pichi Balet drove in four runs and scored three times in a 3-for-5 night. Railroaders starter Dylan Mouzakes tossed 5 1/3 innings and nabbed his fifth victory of the 2017 season. Mouzakes allowed five earned runs on eight hits to go with four strikeouts. For Salina, C Jesse Baker had a perfect 3-for-3 game with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI.
