EXPLORERS WALK OFF ON T-BONES WITH NINTH-INNING PUSH

Sioux City 3, Kansas City 2 – Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk off on the Kansas City T-Bones 3-2.

The Explorers scored the game’s opening run when SS Nate Samson touched home after a single from RF Jeremy Hazelbaker (2-for-4) in the bottom of the first. The T-Bones tied the score in the sixth when 1B Christopher Colabello singled home SS Shawn O’Malley (2-for-3) and took the lead in the next inning thanks to a sac fly from DH Christian Correa.

In the bottom of the ninth, DH Dexture McCall drew a one-out walk and Joel Davis came on to run for him. Pinch hitter Justin Felix drew a walk in the next at-bat to put the winning run on bases. LF Sebastian Zawada knotted the score with a single to right and C Dylan Kelly (2-for-4) ended the contest two pitches later with a single to center, plating Felix.

 

Gary SouthShore 2, Fargo-Moorhead 0 – Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats blanked the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to pick up a 2-0 win on Tuesday evening at Newman Outdoor Field.

1B Alex Crosby (2-for-4) gave the RailCats the lead two pitches into the game as he hit a lead-off home run, his sixth dinger of the year. In the third, 2B Andy DeJesus (2-for-3) scored when DH Hayden Schilling (2-for-4) singled to double the visitors lead.

On the bump, the RailCats pitching staff combined to allow just three hits on the night. Starting pitcher Nile Ball earned the win as he threw 5.1 innings, gave up three hits and four walks while striking out three batters. Relievers Jake Alkire, Ryan Thurston and Sandy Lugo combined to finish things off and Lugo earned his eighth save of the year.

 

Texas 3, Lincoln 1 – Box Score

The Texas AirHogs jumped out to an early lead and made it stand up for a 3-1 win against the Lincoln Saltdogs.

In the bottom of the first, 1B Chen Junpeng (2-for-4) hit a lead-off double and scored when DH Na Chuang (2-for-4) singled. Chuang scored in the next at-bat when RF Stewart Ijames (2-for-4) tripled and Ijames scored when 3B Matt Dean singled in the following AB. That three-run advantage held until the top of the eighth when pinch hitter Daniel Herrera scored on a wild pitch.

Starting pitcher Zhang Tao picked up the win as he worked seven innings and gave up just one hit while striking out nine batters. Reliever Carlos Contreras worked the eighth, allowing the only run, and Brett Eibner worked the ninth to earn the save. The staff combined to give up just two hits and one walk while racking up 12 strikeouts.

 

Cleburne 12, Sioux Falls 10 – Box Score

The Cleburne Railroaders outlasted the Sioux Falls Canaries 12-10 in a high-scoring affair in Sioux Falls.

The Sioux Falls Canaries took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with a six-run rally that featured a two-RBI triple from C Graham Low and a two-run home run from SS Andrew Ely (4-for-5, 5 RBIs). But the Railroaders scored a run in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings including solo shots from CF K.C. Huth and DH John Nester (4-for-5, 4 runs, 2 RBIs) to take back the lead.

LF Angel Reyes (3-for-4) and 2B Ryan Brett (2-for-4) also homered in the game for the Railroaders.

For the Canaries, 1B Brett Vertigan added a 3-for-5 performance with three runs scored and an RBI.

 

Chicago 8, Milwaukee 3 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs used a four-run fourth and a three-run eighth to close out a sweep of the Milwaukee Milkmen with an 8-3 win.

The Dogs took control of the contest in the fourth as CF Tony Rosselli (3-for-5) singled home 2B Jordan Dean (2-for-5) and SS Gustavo Pierre (3-for-5) cleared the bases with a single (aided by an error) to take a 4-1 lead. RF Victor Roache (2-for-3) singled home DH David Olmedo-Barrera in the sixth to push the lead up to four and in the eighth, Pierre added a solo home run and Roach hit a two-run shot to put the game well out of reach.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Milkmen rallied for a pair of runs as RF Chris Scura reached on an error to allow CF Derek Reddy (2-for-4) to score and then Scura scored when DH Manuel Boscan singled but the Dogs quickly ended the surge to take the win.
