Chicago 4, Milwaukee 3 (10 Innings) – Box Score
Designated hitter Keon Barnum launched a solo home run in the top of the 10th inning to give Chicago a 4-3 lead and they would go on to beat Milwaukee by that same score.
Barnum has hit 30 home runs on the year and is now tied the league record for most home runs in a single season. Along with Barnum, LF Kelly Dugan and 3B Jordan Dean each had a 2-for-4 night with a run scored while SS Gustavo Pierre had a hit in four at-bats and an RBI. In total, the Dogs had 10 hits in the game.
Chicago pitcher Rich Mascheri threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and nabbed the victory. The southpaw struck out two batters in the five that he faced. With the win, Mascheri is now 6-2 on the 2019 season.
For the Milkmen in the losing effort, C/1B Glen McClain had a 2-for-4 outing with two runs scored.
Fargo-Moorhead 6, Gary SouthShore 0 – Box Score
Fargo-Moorhead won their eighth straight contest as they downed Gary SouthShore by the final of 6-0.
RedHawks starting pitcher Michael Tamburino and three relievers combined on a six-hit shutout. Tamburino tossed the first six innings allowing two walks and five strikeouts while fanning three batters. The bullpen trio of Sebastian Kessay, Joe Filomeno and Brent Jones finished the final three frames of the game and combined gave up a hit and a walk to go along with five strikeouts. Tamburino earned the victory and is now 7-5 on the year.
Offensively for Fargo-Moorhead, 1B Correlle Prime led the way going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. RedHawks LF Brennan Metzger had two hits in four at-bats along with a run and an RBI while C Brian Olson and SS Yhoxian Medina each tallied a run in a 1-for-3 night.
For Gary SouthShore, 1B Alex Crosby and DH Colin Willis each went 2-for-4.
Lincoln 2, Texas 0 – Box Score
Lincoln starting pitcher John Brownell and reliever Austin Boyle tossed a combined one-hit shutout as the Saltdogs defeated Texas, 2-0.
Brownell went the first eight innings of the contest giving up a hit and a walk while striking out eight batters. Boyle tossed the ninth inning and struck out the side. Brownell earned the win and is now 7-5 while Doyle notched his second save.
Offensively for Lincoln, RF Josh Mazzola led the way going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Saltdogs 1B Tyler Moore and 3B Ivan Marin each chipped in a pair of hits and scored a run. Lincoln tallied single runs in the sixth and ninth innings and collected 10 hits.
St. Paul 8, Winnipeg 5 – Box Score
St. Paul jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of play and would go on to outlast Winnipeg by an 8-5 score. With the win, the Saints swept the two-game series with the Goldeyes and have now won seven straight.
Center fielder Dan Motl showed the way for St. Paul at the plate going 2-for-5 with a triple, three runs scored and an RBI. Saints 2B Josh Allen added a blast and two runs in a 1-for-3 night while LF Blake Schmit had a double in four at-bats along with a run and two RBIs.
St. Paul starter Landon Beck threw five innings of work and grabbed the win. The righty allowed four earned runs on six hits and fanned five batters. Beck is now 5-2 on the season with the victory.
Center fielder Reggie Abercrombie went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs in the loss for Winnipeg.
Sioux City 5, Kansas City 0 – Box Score
Sioux City took game two of a pivotal three-game series with Kansas City as they shutout the T-Bones by a 5-0 final. With the win, the Explorers are a ½ game behind Kansas City for the second spot in the South Division.
There were 12 hits collected by Sioux City with four batters having multi-hit games. Explorers CF Kyle Wren led the way at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Sioux City C Dylan Kelly had a pair of hits in four at-bats along with a run while RF Jeremy Hazelbaker and 3B Jose Sermo each contributed two hits.
Explorers starting pitcher Sam Held tossed five shutout innings and earned his second win of the year. Held (2-0) gave up two walks and eight hits to go with six punchouts.
Kansas City had 11 hits on the night but left 14 runners on base in the loss.
Cleburne 14, Sioux Falls 8 – Box Score
Cleburne scored five runs in the ninth inning to blow open a tight game and defeat Sioux Falls, 14-8. The Railroaders had a 9-4 lead after seven innings of play before the Canaries rallied with four in the eighth to cut it to a one-run game.
There were 13 hits by the Railroaders tonight with 1B Grant Buck leading the way going 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs. Cleburne 3B Chase Simpson launched a blast in five at-bats along with two runs and three RBIs while LF Angel Reyes had a three-hit game with a pair of RBIs. Shortstop Daniel Roberston and 2B Ryan Brett also helped the Railroaders offense by contributing two hits apiece.
Cleburne starter Michael Gunn allowed four earned runs over six innings of work and collected his fourth win. Gunn (4-0) gave up a walk and 10 hits while fanning three batters.
Third baseman Jordan Ebert had a 2-for-4 night with a run and two RBI for Sioux Falls.
