Chicago 7, Cleburne 6 – Box Score

Pinch hitter/C Rey Gonzalez belted a three-run home run in the seventh inning to give Chicago the lead for good as the Dogs defeated Cleburne, 7-6. Chicago was down 6-1 after three innings of play before rallying with two runs in the fourth, one in the sixth and the three in the seventh to take control of the contest.

Gonzalez led the way at the plate for the Dogs going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Along with Gonzalez, LF Kelly Dugan went 3-for-4 with a run scored while DH Keon Barnum and 3B Gustavo Pierre each had a pair of hits and drove in a combined three runs. In total, Chicago had 12 hits in the contest.

Dogs pitcher Luke Wilkins tossed two scoreless innings of relief and notched his first victory with the team. Wilkins allowed a walk and two hits in the eight batters he faced.

For Cleburne in the losing effort, DH John Nester went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.

 

Sioux City 11, Texas 7 – Box Score

Sioux City continued to stay red hot as they won their ninth game in a row with an 11-7 victory over Texas. The Explorers rolled out to an 8-2 lead after three innings of play and would never look back.

There were 10 hits collected by Sioux City with eight batters in the lineup picking up at least one. Explorers CF Kyle Wren led the way going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. Sioux City 2B Jose Sermo and SS Drew Stankiewicz each contributed a double and two runs batted in while DH Justin Felix launched a solo shot in the fifth inning, his second of the season.

Explorers starting pitcher Andrew Chin allowed two earned runs over six innings of work and picked-up his first victory. Chin (1-0) gave up eight hits and fanned three batters.

Left fielder Jonathan Moroney had a 3-for-5 night with three runs scored and an RBI in the loss for the AirHogs.

 

St. Paul 2, Kansas City 0 (Suspended- Rain/Bottom 2)

The contest between St. Paul and Kansas City was suspended due to rain with the Saints leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning. The contest will resume at 6:05 PM CT on Monday, July 29 and be completed as a nine-inning game. The regularly scheduled game will follow and be seven innings.
