Chicago 3, Milwaukee 2 – Box Score
The Chicago Dogs (7-10) held the Milwaukee Milkmen to just three hits as they picked up a 3-2 win on Friday night at Impact Field.
The Dogs took the lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run from C Garrett Hope. 3B Dylan Tice matched that for the Milkmen in the top of the sixth but CF Michael Crouse scored what turned out to be the game-winning run in the bottom of the frame on a pass ball.
No batter for either team had more than one hit as the Milkmen held the Dogs to just six hits on the day as well. Starting pitcher Jake Dahlberg (1-0) earned the win after working 6.2 innings and allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two. Reliever Adam Choplick picked up the save for a perfect ninth where he struck out two batters.
St. Paul 3, Sioux Falls 2 – Box Score
The St. Paul Saints rallied from a two-run deficit to walk-off on the Sioux Falls Canaries 3-2 on Friday at Sioux Falls Stadium.
The game was locked in a scoreless draw until the seventh inning when DH Jabari Henry scored after a double from 1B Alay Lago and Lago scored on a single from RF Logan Landon to give the Canaries a 2-0 lead. In the eighth, RF Max Murphy hit a lead-off triple and scored when 1B John Silviano bounced out. In the ninth, training 2-1, the Saints loaded up the bases and 2B Josh Allen tied the game with a sac fly that scored SS Nate Samson. In the next at-bat, Murphy doubled home the game-ending run, plating 3B Chesny Young.
Saints starting pitcher Ryan Zimmerman took a no-decision but had a strong outing as he worked eight innings and allowed just two runs on five hits while striking out five batters. Reliever Paul Voelker earned the win for working a perfect ninth.
Winnipeg 4, Fargo-Moorhead 2 – Box Score
The Winnipeg Goldeyes (12-8) worked past the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 4-2 with a four-run eighth inning on Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field.
The RedHawks took a 2-0 advantage as CF Brennan Metzger (3-for-4) hit a leadoff homer in the sixth and hit another solo shot in the eighth. But in the bottom of the inning, CF Darnell Sweeney (2-for-4) hit a two-run home run to tie the score, later in the inning, RF Jonathan Moroney (2-for-4) singled home 3B Eric Wood for the go-ahead run. In the next at-bat, 1B Kyle Martin scored on a wild pitch.
Starting pitcher Kevin McGovern worked seven strong innings, giving up one run on five hits while striking out three batters in a no-decision. Reliever Marty Bauer worked the eighth on the bump to get a win and reliever Victor Capellan notched the save.
