Chicago 7, Cleburne 6 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs scored the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning as they topped the Cleburne Railroaders 7-6.

The match was tied 6-6 heading into the eighth inning but SS Stephen Perez scored what turned out to be the difference making run on a pass ball with two outs. Perez, who was 1-for-2 with an RBI in the game, drew a walk earlier in the inning.

CF Kenny Wilson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Dogs and DH Tony Rosselli also added a pair of hits as well as an RBI and a run scored. Rosselli, 1B Trey Vavra and 2B Edwin Arroyo all homered for the Dogs.

For the Railroaders, SS Angel Sosa went 3-for-5 with an RBI (a solo home run) and two runs scored and 2B Chase Simpson hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the third. DH Cameron Monger also left the yard on the night.

 

Sioux City 8, Lincoln 7 – Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers became the first team in the American Association to hit 40 wins on the season as they survived a six-run inning from the Lincoln Saltdogs and sealed an 8-7 win.

The Saltdogs took a 6-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning with an offensive explosion. 2B/SS Ivan Marin singled in the first run on the rally and then scored alongside two other Saltdogs when 3B/SS Christian Ibarra (2-for-5) hit a bases-clearing double. Ibarra scored in the next at-bat when 2B/3B T.J. Bennett (2-for-3) singled and Bennett scored later in the inning on a single from DH Curt Smith.

But the Explorers fought back with a two-RBI double from 1B Daniel Jackson in the bottom of the fourth and tied the game in the next inning when DH Dexture McCall added two more RBIs with a double.

Sioux City took the lead for good in the sixth when CF Jay Austin (3-for-4) singled home LF Luis Durango and then scored when SS Nate Samson (2-for-4) singled in the next at-bat.

 

St. Paul 10, Kansas City 8 – Box Score

A seven-run fourth inning proved to be enough for the St. Paul Saints to hold off the Kansas City T-Bones 10-8.

The Saints entered the fourth inning down 7-2, due in large part to a five-run second inning from the T-Bones, but turned things around quickly. LF Burt Reynolds (2-for-3) drew a lead-off walk and then scored the first run of the rally when 3B Dante Bichette Jr. (2-for-4) singled. 1B Nathaniel Maggio drew a bases-loaded walk in the next at-bat and then 2B Zach Walters scored on an SS Anthony Phillips sac fly.

After a RF Max Murphy single, CF Kyle Barrett (2-for-5) hit a two-RBI single and he scored on a double from DH Brady Shoemaker (2-for-4). Reynolds also added an RBI single that plated Murphy.

For the T-Bones, RF Nick Torres went 3-for-5 with two RBI and CF Todd Cunningham went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

 

Wichita 8, Texas 6 – Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts turned 12 hits into eight runs as they took care of the Texas AirHogs 8-6.

All nine Wingnuts that stepped to the plate picked up at least one hit on the night and three of them two-hit games. 1B Abel Nieves went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, C John Nester went 2-for-5 with an RBI and SS Leo Vargas went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. LF Tony Thomas went had a triple and a team-high two RBI for the Wingnuts.

For the AirHogs, CF Lu Zhenhong went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, DH Dillon Thomas went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and LF Correlle Prime added two RBIs.

On the mound, starting pitcher Charlie Gilles was tabbed as the winner for working five innings and allowing six runs on six hits while striking out four batters. Reliever Daniel Tillman his 13th save for striking out the side in the ninth.

 

 

Gary SouthShore 9, Winnipeg 5 – Box Score

After battling to a 4-4 tie in the first three innings, the Gary SouthShore RailCats outscored the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-1 the rest of the way to earn a 9-5 win.

The RailCats took the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning when 3B Randy Santiesteban scored as C Wilfredo Gimenez bounced out to the pitcher. Later in the inning, LF Tillman Pugh (3-for-5) singled home RF D.K. Carey to take a 6-4 lead. RF Josh Romanski (2-for-4) scored in the bottom of the inning for the Goldeyes on a sac fly from 3B Josh Mazzola but that would be the final run of the night for the home team.

DH Colin Willis (2-for-2) singled home SS Andy DeJesus in the sixth and in the ninth, Pugh hit an RBI double and then scored when 2B Cole Fabio (3-for-5) doubled in the next at-bat.

For the Goldeyes, CF Reggie Abercrombie and 1B Josh McAdams each added 2-for-4 performances with one RBI each.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 12, Sioux Falls 5 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored 12 unanswered runs to start the game and strolled to a 12-5 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries Saturday night at Sioux Falls Stadium

The RedHawks wasted no time in getting on the board as 3B Leobaldo Pina plated two runs with a ground rule double in the top of the first and, after C Charlie Valerio scored on a wild pitch in the next at-bat, DH Keury De La Cruz hit a two-run home run to take a quick 5-0 lead.

For the game, nine different RedHawks recorded hits in the game and six of them had multi-hit nights. CF Devan Ahart led the way as he went 3-for-6 with two runs scored. Pina was one of five batters to have two hits on the night and he had a game-high three RBIs. Valerio and SS Yhoxian Medina each had two hits and two RBIS.

For the Canaries, 1B David Bergin went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and both DH Jabari Henry and 3B Patrick Fiala went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
